I found this lovely poem on the web and I wanted to use it but I want to ask permission from the author first before I publish it on our school newsletter. The poem is titled "I am forever yours"

I AM FOREVER YOURS

My heart will always bear your name
no matter where I go,
and years will pass me by yet still
my love will always grow..

Along with every breath I make
I wish for your embrace,
or just to gently place my hands
on your angelic face..

Right from the very day we met
I knew inside you'll be,
the girl who will complete my life
and love no one but me..

Your gentle touch, your sweet caress
your most endearing eyes,
are all that fills my soul with bliss
that goes beyond the skies..

More than the time I shall exist
my songs for you will play,
until the stars all cease to burn
my love for you will stay..

And little drops of rain that kiss
the earth may fall no more,
but until then I'll treasure you
and lovingly adore..

Great as the kings of legends told
my words will never break,
and soon before your eyes unfold
a vow that I will make..

Dreams don't come true, or so I thought
but then you proved me wrong,
for I have always dreamed of you
and then you came along..

And so my sweetheart, look at me
and let me hold your hands,
I swear to love you all my life
until forever ends..

Let's take this journey far across
where ocean meets the sky,
I'll hold you close, I won't let go
I'll never say goodbye..

Even the most of trials come
I'll stand and make it through,
and tell the world they can not take
away my love for you..

Now and for always you will be
the princess of my life,
you are the greatest gift I had
my ever dearest wife..

The author of this very romantic poem is Randy Batiquin, from the Philippines. This poem was published online as early as the good old days of Geocities era. Check this link: http://web.archive.org/web/20090902013442/http://geocities.com/musicloverz/randy.html

And in his own words, he goes to describe this poem below:

"Here's a poem I wrote for my dearest girlfriend Mary Magdalen. You see I had a little trouble finding the right words coz I wanted to use her full name as the first letters of every stanza. She once asked me when could I stay this much in love with her.. and so I answered it with a poem. Maybe the title already says it all, but wait til you finished reading the whole poem. You'll learn how "forever" could be put to words only a heart can understand." - RANDY BATIQUIN

This poem has been published everywhere since then. From blogs to websites, to postcards, someone even turned it into a song and uploaded the same in youtube.

Is this it?

Journey keyboard player Jonathan Cain wrote this song about the rough relationship being a married man on the road in a Rock band. Cain and his wife divorced a few years later, despite him pledging in the song to be "forever yours... faithfully."

I found that at

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faithfully_(song)

"Faithfully" is a popular power ballad by the band Journey, and the second single from their album Frontiers. It was written by Jonathan Cain. It peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving the band their second consecutive top twenty hit from Frontiers. While the song was relatively successful on the charts, it has gone on to become one of their most recognizable songs, and has enjoyed lasting popularity.

For copyright permission, maybe you could start with Cain's website, I don't know if there's a Contact button but anyway

http://www.jonathancain.com/

If that doesn't work, you could look at the box on the Wikipedia article - it lists Producer etc. - you could go to their websites and ask them. I think a simple e-mail request would do to start.

Sometimes there are published Copyright Conditions, that would say "OK if only a paragraph" and so on. Maybe you can find that.
