Question:
I'm looking for a Stephen King book recommendation?

I've been reading Stephen King recently, and I was wondering what are some of his better novels? I don't really have a specific genre I like, but I think his style of writing is good, as far as modern writers go. I'm not about to start the Dark Tower series though, until someone convinces me of their greatness, since I don't usually like starting a crap series. Thanks in advance.

Golden Years. Old Man growing younger while his wife is growing older. Great story. King played the bus driver in the TV series made straight from the book. Then again, he plays in all his movies. Another great option would be Storm of the Century. Actually, come to think of it, I'd read that one again sooner. Blizzard hits the NE, but what comes with it?

Cujo about a rabid St Bernard is one of my favourites, also IT, the Stand, Tommyknockers, The Green Mile, Different Seasons, The Eye of the Dragon (fantasy), Cell, Delores Claiborne, Misery, The Shining and Carrie, in fact I enjoyed them all but some can be a little hard going.

I also like James Herbert novel The Rats

I started the Dark Tower series. I didn't really like it.

I liked the early stuff like 'The Dead Zone' and the 'Shining'.

He has written a ton of stuff. He also writes as Richard Bachman.

Here is his complete bibliography in chronological order with brief descriptions:

The Stand is amazing. Get the unabridged version though because too much it left out of the shorter one. Also, The Eyes of The Dragon, and Needfull Things.

you might as well suck it up and start the dark tower series because almost all of his novels pre-DT7 are connected in some way. how are you going to know it's a crap series until you start reading it anyway? if you don't like it you can always STOP READING IT!! pretty simple, huh?

The Shining has to be my favourite book from him. It's so good.

Followed closely by Pet Semetary and Needful Things.

Needful Things is great, especially if you prefer the sci-fi to just the horror. And sci-fi usually isn't my thing, but Needful Things was... Ah just so good.

in case you're no longer into the gross out or ghoulies The Eyes Of The Dragon is amazingly solid, and one among his shorter novels. there is likewise the female Who enjoyed Tom Gordon, and Thinner (written as Richard Bachman). i'm a great SK fan - have confidence me.

I would recommend Carrie. I haven't read the book but my brother did and he said it was a really good book. :)
