What I'm trying to do at the moment is draw a list of some of the best and most well-known fantasy books out there. This refers to novels, comics, short story collections, whatever.

I need names and titles.

Summaries and comments are very welcomed.

This is what I've gathered so far:

Caroll Lewis - the two Alice novels
J.M. Barrie - Peter Pan
C.S. Lewis - The Chronicles of Narnia
Roald Dahl's books
Philip Pullman - His Dark Materials
JK Rowling - Harry Potter
Raymond Feist - Magician and Faerie Tale
Neil Gaiman - The Sandman, Coraline, The Graveyard Book
Susana Clarke - Jonathan Strange & Mr Norell
M.Z. Bradley - The Mists of Avalon
Terry Pratchett - Discworld (I am NOT going to name every novel individually here :P )
Pratchett and Gaiman - Good Omens
J.R.R. Tolkien - Lord of the Rings
Cornelia Funke - Inkheart
P.L. Travers - Mary Poppins
Bulgakov - The Master and Margarita
Peter Beagle - The Last Unicorn
Wurts & Feist - The Empire Series

Anne McCaffrey, Dragonrider books - dozens of them, I think. Also newer ones written by her son. Some may be called science fiction.

Mary Hoffman, Stravaganza series. Parallel world, England/Italy, magic

Tamora Pierce, several series set in the same world. Main character is usually a strong female. Magic, gods, mythological creatures

By the way, the Alice books were written by Lewis Carroll, not Caroll Lewis.

Most of mine have probably already been mentioned, but all well. Here are my favorites matching your genres: Hush, Hush - Becca Fiztpatrick The Darkest Powers Series (The Summoning, The Awakening,and The Reckoning) - Kelley Armstrong Generation Dead, Kiss of Life, Passing Strange - Daniel Waters Vampire Academy Series (Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss, Blood Promise, Spirit Bound) - Richelle Mead The Mortal Instruments Series (City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass) - Cassandra Clare The Morganville Vampires (There's too many to name, but LOTS of action and lots of romance. I love them.) - Rachel Caine Blue Bloods Series (Blue Bloods, Masquerade, Revelations, The Van Alen Legacy) - Melissa de la Cruz The Vampire Diaries (The Awakening, The Struggle, The Furry, and Dark Reunion. I heard the rest weren't very good, so I haven't read them.) - L.J. Smith Need, Captivate - Carrie Jones Wake, Fade, Gone - Lisa McMann Evernight Series (Evernight, Stargazer, Hourglass) - Claudia Gray Wings, Spells - Aprilynne Pike Vampire Kisses Series - Ellen Schreiber The Immortals Series (Evermore, Blue Moon, Shadowland, Dark Flame) - Alyson Noel Uglies, Pretties, Specials - Scott Westerfeld Peeps - Scott Westerfeld The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod (Eighth Grade Bites, Ninth Grade Slays, Tenth Grade Bleeds, Eleventh Grade Burns. There isn't as much romance in this series because it's sort of for younger generations, but it's good all the same. Except Vlad cries alot.) The Host (The better of her books) - Stephenie Meyer Unleashed - Kristopher Reisz Thirsty - MT Anderson Swoon - Nina Malkin Fallen - Lauren Kate Immortal - Gillian Shields Maximum Ride Series (The Angel Experiment, Schools Out - Forever, Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports, The Final Warning, MAX, FANG. Again, more action than romance.) - James Patterson Beautiful Creatures - Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl Meridian - Amber Kizer Some Maggie Stiefvater books that I can't think of for the life of me at this second. The Demon's Lexicon, The Demons Covenant - Sarah Rees Brennan There's alot more I could mention, but most of them have not even been released yet.(; Sorry if some of the above aren't. I've seen alot of people recommending the House of Night series by PC Cast and Kristin Cast. I, for one, would NOT recommend it. The first few books in the series are okay, but then they go down. I can't stand them anymore. So, and this is just my oppinion, unless you like the most annoying, ignorant teens in the world, stay clear of that series. I hope I've helped! (;
