I agree with you. =) I'm a good fan of the Twilight series, but Harry Potter is clearly the better book.
The reason many people (mainly girls) are so hooked on the Twilight series, is because the idea of cute vampires and forbidden romances lure them in. Yes, I like the Twilight series, but only for those two reasons. It's another Romeo and Juliet, isn't it? The original idea of vampires, was Van Helsing. Van Helsing was a great idea, and I think that so the reason so many authors have 'stolen' the vampire idea, was because they knew how much the idea of vampires excited readers all over the world.
And then there's Harry Potter. Harry Potter, a story of an ordinary boy... or so he thought. The world of Hogwarts has stolen many hearts over the years, and it's safe to say that the books and movies have been one of the writing world's biggest successes. The magic of Harry Potter is to this day a great set of books, and most around the world can say that they have read the books or seen the movies.
In no way should people be comparing Harry Potter and Twilight. I've got nothing against Twilight, but Harry Potter is CLEARLY the better of the two by aeons of fans.
But, I guess everyone has their own opinions, and I honestly don't mean to offend any twi-hard's out there, but this is fact, and people should understand that.
After the Twilight movie had been filmed, it was said that Robert Pattinson severely regretted agreeing to play the part of Edward. You hear interviews with Harry Potter characters all the time, and not one of them says that they regret taking on their roles and joining the Harry Potter cast.
The Twilight movie is ruined by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's poor acting skills.
At least when Harry Potter fans talk about Harry Potter, they can give you a really clear description of why they love Harry Potter. If you asked a Twilight fan why they loved Twilight, all you would get back in response would be 'OMG! EDWARD IS SO HOT!'. It's silly, really.
