After reading the book and watching the film again I do not understand why Oberon wants the little boy so much. If I am correct it is not his and Titania's child, but the child of Titania's deceased best friend.

"Oberon, king of the fairies, and his queen, Titania, arrive in the same forest to attend Theseus and Hippolyta's wedding. Oberon and Titania are estranged because Titania refuses to give her Indian page-boy to Oberon for use as his "knight" or "henchman," since the child's mother was one of Titania's worshippers. Titania objects, asserting she is queen and she possesses this boy-child. Oberon's authority as king is challenged for he desires the boy-child out of spite and is jealous of the queen's loving devotion to this boy-child. They also bicker that Oberon loves Hippolyta and Titania loves Theseus. Oberon seeks to punish Titania's disobedience and recruits the mischievous Puck to help him apply a magical juice from a flower called "love-in-idleness," which makes the victim fall in love with the first living thing he sees when he awakens. Oberon applies the juice to Titania in order to distract her and force her to give up the page-boy/boy-child.

Midsummer Night's Dream is a play, not a "book." The play might be contained in a book, yes.
Like Professor Sheed wrote, Oberon is jealous of the child because of the attention Titania devotes to him.

i think of Titania substitute into greater on top of issues and for this reason Oberon went to the lengths of coming up her fall in love with an "***" to coach her a lesson. Bringing her down a peg or 2.

He is jealous of Titania's love and devotion to the child. Titania is devoted to the child because of the mother who was " a votress of her order"..."but she, being mortal, of that boy did die, and it is for her sake that I rear up the boy and it is for her sake I shall not part with him."

I agree with e3456's answer. Oberon was jealous and he didn't like the Queen disobeying his wishes and asserting herself.
