Is it just me, or does anyone else think that "Albus Severus Potter" is a completely ludicrous name??

Well, my answer has nothing to do with books, but my son's name is Ayden Cecil Shifflett. I hate the name Cecil because it sounds old and decrepit to me, but my husband wanted us to name him Cecil because that is his father's name and before his father died, the day after my son was born actually, he could be happy and proud. His father was very sick, and my husband knew it would make him happy, and I loved my father in law, so I decided to make Cecil his middle name. I think its an ugly name, but the meaning behind why I named him that is more pure to me than the thought of its ugliness (to me that is.) Same with Albus Severus Potter, there is meaning behind it, so I just look past its ugliness. Honestly, I thought Severus was an ugly name anyway, but that's just me. Only you can say whether its an ugly name or not, everyone has their opinion.

Well yea but the kid will most likely only be known as Albus Potter because Severus is only a middle name. Plus, the name is suppose to be symbolic and all that good stuff. I thought it was kinda sweet.

The name sound horrible.

"Albus" on an eleven-year-old reminds me of clouds.

And the middle name just doesn't click. It was really sad reading that, and I thought that was a good thing of Harry to do, to name his kid after Snape, but it doesn't work. Names with a lot of syllables definitely don't make great middle names... and neither name sounds good with "Potter" anyway.

No....I think so she said that in one of her interviews, maybe the one on MSN. But she will be writing a Harry Potter Encyclopedia explaining all the things that were left out in the books but she'll start that only after a few monthes, taking a break now.

Can you imagine if you were named that? What would you do? But I swear, that poor kid. He is going to be made fun of for his entire life. And it is a rather ugly name. Who cares if the people you were named after were great? At least their names ended up sounding half decent...
um...YEAH!

ya it just doesnt seem to flow the way a name should. its like severus is just one of those names never to be used as a middle name.

but its good for the purpose and meaning in the book.

Hi.

At first, maybe for the connection one unmistakable does, it sound like and old man's name.

Really... It is a grandfather's name!

I don't think is ludicrous at all. It just seems "old".

However, the constant referral to its carrier as "Al", freshens it up a bit. Quite a bit!

Although, I rather people called him "Albus". "Al" sound like a guy that hangs too much in a bar with his shirt wrongly tucked.

Goodluck!

It does sounds some what funny,

only because we already knew Albus Dumbledore,

Severys Snape and all of the Potters,

So it sounded kind of funny haveing them all put together.

But there are much funnier names in the book i think.

Like Neville LONGBOTTOM.

Krookshanks.

Scabebrs.

Igor Karkaroff.

But the names don't really matter to me,

the books are amazing.

Sounds it but it's the meaning that counts:

Albus named after Dumbeldore

Severus named after Snape.

It's nice to remember people who meant something to us by calling our children their names too, or similar names!
