How does this sound for a story idea?

Question

There is a group of seven friends that have a life of small crime such as stealing and fights. They have a very oppressive government and the government starts dictatorship. The group along with many other people hate this idea. They join a small rebellion in the fight to restore peace. This takes place a little bit into the future so there are droids and other futuristic technology. It would an action packed story and unexpected events would occur. This came to me in a dream and I did not get this idea from anything else. I didn't go into much detail because I'm just brainstorming these ideas. Tell me what you think and remember this wouldn't be the whole story. Be honest please

Sounds like a lot of things I read, but you can make it your own by bringing your voice into it. Even cliches have new life if they're written by someone talented. Good luck. :)

How about if the rebellion was made up of scattered splinter groups spread apart in a post apocalyptic world. A warrior has to go and find these groups and get them to work for the same common good.

First problem is that these splinter groups have leaders that are very egotistical and the warrior will have to figure out who wants peace and who amongst the groups wants to be in control. He will have to sort them out.

Second problem. The warriors brother is amongst the rebels some where, and the warrior is not sure whose side the brother will be on. And the brother is a highly trained combat specialist.

It would be easy for the warrior to shoot the first thing that moves, which some of the rebels want so as to prolong the conflict, but he will have to identify who ever he meets. The rebels set all types of traps, so the warrior has to be careful. The warrior travels alone, hoping that will show that he wants peace and to unify those who want peace.

Some of the rebels know that when peace comes, they will lose their power over their soldiers and those rebels will want to prolong the war so they can keep their power.

Some of the tools the rebels have are mechanical flying birds that look like crows but are similar to a hand grenade if they get close to you. some have cameras in them for surveillance.

Hmm.. I really like the idea. A lot actually. I'm a writer myself, so I can be kind of judgmental about stories. But it sounds like it has a good base, which is always important. It also sounds inspiring, which makes way for a great and capturing story. I would definitely suggest perusing this book. When you finish brain storming i would love to know the entire story basis. I think it's really good and interesting but maybe instead of the future why not the past? I think that would make for an even better story! no offense

im not going to lie, it doesnt sound very original.

but it all counts on your characters, and the plot.

depends on your writing style too,

so dont give up on your idea just because it may not be an entirely new concept.

i think it is really cool but remember to try to keep the readers attention and don't have it boring but other than that it sounds really awesome
