Do I italicize this when writing a paper?

Question

Do you italicize website names?
Okay I can't remember very well for titles of things if you italicize or put quotation marks around them. For example, the sentance:

Myspace and Facebook are both major social networking sites.

(Would you italicize or put quotation marks around Myspace/ Facebook?)

Second, what about the title:

The Wall Street Journal
(Would you italicize or put in quotation marks? Also, would the word "the" be included in the quotation marks or italics?)

Need help ASAP!

No. You do not italicize.



No quotes or underline either. Just capitalize the right parts.



The Wall Street Journal should be italicized (or underlined - underlining is "the poor man's italics").

You would not put them in quotes and you would not put them in italic style skew. You capitalize them, which you have already done.



I know in the field of linguistics italics are used for discussing word, and I generally don't like doing that when discussing linguistics, because I am trying to show the words, not skew their graphic appearance, but I guess thats my problem.



Sometimes italics are used when translating into another language to indicate that the words are not in the source text, or are part of a dynamic translation (a loose translation).



Any other use of italics would be relatively unfamiliar to me.



I don't think it is used in references anymore, at leat I do not use that format in references.



If the meaning of the word you are typing is unusual or you are giving an unusual sense to the meaning then put it in quotes. If you are using a specialized meaning of a word that another author has used, put it in quotes.
