Okay. I'm an eighth grader and for a project in school I have to read a horror story. I don't know what to read and I obviously want to be able to understand the book. I really want to read the story Wicked but I'm not sure if it's horror? Is it? And what are some other Horror sotries that would be good for an eighth grader?

WICKED, which I love (book, soundtrack, musical) is not actually horror. You need something from Stephen King, but not one of the really heavy ones, certainly not SALEM's LOT, oh no, not for a while. But CARRIE is an easy read and considered horror. It is not terribly frightening and not very long. It is easily understood as well. The book differs enough from the movie.

I wouldnt call Wicked exactly a horror story. First of all it's a novel. Do you have to read a whole novel or just a story? If it's a novel, I would recommend William Peter Blatty's The Exorcist or Peter Straub's Ghost Story. If it's a short story, then something by Poe- probably The Telltale Heart. Pax - C

In my opinion, the original Frankenstein by Mary Shelly is the ultimate, and quite possibly the father of all modern horror stories.

It has much more depth than you can ever get from a movie. It was written at a time when folks were becomming quite afraid of technology. It's not huge, and it's easy to read. I think she was quite young when she wrote it.

It does not could desire to be some sick dying horror tale. a stable horror tale you are able to desire to write is a few thing with distinctive embarrassment. think of the 'horror' of having to sing or dance in front of thousands and thousands and messing up? there is an theory.

Find a copy of Jack Ketchum's Peaceable Kingdom. That is the best single author collection of short stories, in my opinion.

If i were you i would try and Edgar Allan Poe story. his stories arent blood and guts like others but they honestly get to you. it chills you. try reading the pit and the pendulm. you will love it. there is also a movie on that too. just dont watch it alone. if you want more information email me.
