Why in a lot of these pictures is she depicted as an African American girl?

When she was just a background character, she was cast as a couple different people, both of them black. However, when she became a semi-important character in Half-Blood Prince, she was cast properly, and the role was given to a white actress.

African American? Lavender would be british or Irish if she went to hogwarts, so she wouldn't be 'African American' now would she. Maybe she was inspired by Micheal Jackson and changed her skin colour
Edit - on the Wiki sites it says a different girl played her in every film, Maybe JK Rowling had a word with them or something, interesting question :)

In the first few movies she was just a background character. No one actually knew if it was Lavender Brown or not everyone just assumed it was her because of who she hung out with. Plus the directors probably didnt know that Lavender Brown would be an important character in later movies.

That awkward moment when you're now a Caucasian girl with curly blond hair when you were most likely african from your first year to fifth.
but in all seriousness, i think maybe the oringal lavender couldn't keep acting, possibly dropped out?I'm not even sure if it has anything to do with skin colour but i highly doubt that. She never talked in the films so what difference is there really?
