Places like 'The Book People' often do packs of ten books - by Ruth Rendle etc - but I want lots of Hercule Poirot books by Agatha Christie. Any suggestions?

Charity shops, fetes, secondhand bookshops. Agatha Christies books have been in print for so many years in umpteen editions it is difficult not to find them.

Personally I am less fond of Poirot than Miss Marple. I'm not sure how far the portrayal of the stereotypic irritating little foreigner is intended as a contrast to his surprising abundance of 'little grey cells' and how much is English xenophobia.

The title of a book by Colin Wilson on this type of detective fiction sums it up well, 'Snobbery with Violence'. Still very enjoyable reading though.

Find a used bookstore in your area and head straight in. They will have tons of Agatha Christie that you can buy very cheaply without having to pay for postage if you buy online. If you live in a more isolated area, the above suggestions are excellent.

Try Amazon.com. They have a "4 for 3" deal right now where you can buy 4 books for the price of 3 plus they offer special deals on multiple books by the same author. You get free shipping on orders over $25 and if you want to buy used, the paperbacks start at $.01 each!
