Hermione explains this. His mother's maiden name was Prince. She was a pure blood and his dad was a muggle. So he is a half-blood Prince. The book wasn't with Slughorn, It was one of the old used textbooks left at the school that Slughorn lent Harry to use until he got his own.

His mom's last name: Prince

His mom was a full wizard

His dad was a muggle(possibly muggleborn i dont remember)

Snape was therefore a "half-blood"

Snape was proud of his wizard blood

so he renamed himself the Half-Blood Prince. Hermione finds some backround information on this subject near the end of HPHBP and explains it to harry and ron.

Slughorn had the book because snape gave slughorn all his potions items that he does not need, he didn't realize that he gave slughorn his own copy.

Snape wanted to take it back from harry without informing harry that it was he was the half-blood prince. If harry showed the book to slughorn or dumbledore they probably would have recognized his handwriting because snape was probably taught by slughorn and dumbledore at one point.

His mom's last name was Prince and she was half blood Snape is also half blood so he combined the 2 and made half-blood prince.

Slughorn had the book because Snape left it in there when he was potions master. Snape in the 6th book gets to take over the DADA post and that is why Slughorn is in the book because he is now teaching Potions.

snape's mother was a muggle, making him a 'half-blood'. his mother's last name was 'Prince', and so he is 'half' a Prince. snape had the book when he was at hogwarts, but when he left he probably just handed it in to be used as a spare, which is why slughorn had it.

Snape uses the pseudonym "Half Blood Prince" because he is a half blood, and the wizarding half was from his mother's side--the Prince family. The book was presumably, just left behind, as old textbooks sometimes are. It didn't have any particular significance.

Because he's half-blood. One parent was muggle and the other was born into magic. Also, his mom's last name was Prince. So he's half-prince as well. So he's the Half-Blood Prince. And it's just a book that was left in the classroom. I can't remember if he left it there on purpose or not.

His mom's last name was Prince. He was a half-blood, meaning that one of his parents was a muggle-born and the other was pureblood. He combined the two.

His book was in Slughorn's room probably because he left it there, or just lost it and it turned up there.

Snape had the book when he was a student at Hogwart, which was when he "wrote" it. His mom's maiden name was Prince, and he was proud of it, so he called him self the Half-Blood Prince.

He was called the Half Blood Prince because his mother was a witch but his father was a Muggle. (:

he is half-blood and his mom's maiden name was prince. slughorn is HIS old potions teacher and he never took his book back from the cabinet, slughorn probably took it.

hope this helped!

Cuz he's a half blood. and I guess he likes to refer to himself as a prince..

EDIT: wait no... i remember there was someone named Eileen Prince or something like that... she was his mum so that's why he chose the name "prince"

:( i in my opinion understand you. :) I cried too once I first study books 6 and seven, and that i nonetheless cry once I reread them. So, to respond to your questions: a million. it incredibly is a tough question. incredibly. I belive Hermione is my prevalent character, through fact , she is very clever, in simple terms, an incredibly sturdy chum for Ron and Harry, she continuously helps them, in spite of if she disagrees and because i think of it incredibly is fairly confusing to be the sole lady between 2 boys . :D 2. Bellatrix is my least prevalent character through fact she murdered her very own brother! I propose, it incredibly is revolting! ...and he or she laughed after that.... 3. Frankly, I omit all people that died...in specific Fred Weasley , Tonks and Lupin , Hedwig ( she did not need to die), Sirius, Dumbledore needless to say, even Snape, through fact interior the tip he show that he became into sturdy, Colin Creevey, through fact he became into so youthful, and something of alternative 50 persons who died interior the conflict of Hogwarts. R.I.P. all :( As a private oppinion, i think of that J.ok. Rowling became right into somewhat merciless with the final books ( 5,6,7) ...
