Does this sound like Percy Jackson and would it be a good book to read?

OK this is the story and before i begin HONESTY COUNTS!!!
There is a boy named Derrick Brown who lives in Chicago. He lives with his step-mom and his step-dad in his step-dads house. He is a loser in Chicago and is made fun of everybody (including his steps) except for three other friends(Heather, Kyle,Jack), but this all changes when one day as they were driving field trip he is attacked by by his friend Jack and a swarm of Gryphons and to make it even more weird during the attack his friend (Heather) pulls out a sword and starts fending them off and his principle pulls out a club and a fur coat and starts fighting them off eventually beating them. Derrick then finds out that the Greek gods that he has learned about in his history class are real and that his Heather is the daughter of Nike and that the only reason why they met and became friends was because she was told by the gods to watch him, he also finds out that his friend Kyle is the son of Appolo and that his principle is the famous Hercules. At the camp championship where each camp cabin plays capture the flag he gets into a one on one battle with the camp bully from the ares cabin, derrick is thrown to the floor and then charged and at the last second he sticks out his hand and he freezes the guy in time (take a guess who is his dad......KRONOS). Zeus explains that in many instances when Kronos power is very strong he is able to detach a piece of his body from Tartarus and is able to go into the real world and do stuff like regular people. As Zeus is about to strike him with his lightning bolt the oracle says that a whatever i forgot the name of it and it said that the son of time shall decide the winner of the final battle that is to come which means gods kill Derrick they cant win.
Now Derrick, Kyle and Heather must go on an adventure to out-run a titan army to the gates of tartarus and stop them from opening the gates of tartarus releasing the titan. At the same time Heather and Kyle is told by Athena, Nike and Apollo that if Derrick shows any sign of turning to the enemy side they must kill him.
