I ran up into my room in complete and utter excitement, which was a big improvement to the way I did it yesterday. “a new beginning! That’s all ive wanted and now ive got it!!” I ran around my room with my cream white walls with happy snaps of me and my friend’s all swirling around me. I couldn’t believe what had just happened. I never thought it would happen in a million years.
Finally I calmed myself down and slid down one of my freshly painted cream walls with a photo of me and my friend doing a stupid pose in a photo both. I decided now was a good time to read the rest of the letter.
Dear Miss Sapphire Elia,
New York Performing Arts School would like to welcome you to the school community.
I stopped and took a deep breath this was the point last time I started squealing, and I wasn’t sure if I would be able to hold myself back once again. I took another deep breath while swiftly pulling my long straight black hair into a messy bun on top of my head. I couldn’t wait to tell my parents and to get out of this horrible town, especially after everything that had happened in the past year, I had forgotten that I had even applied, but somehow this letter came at the exact correct time. I was ready to escape all the drama and the fighting, all I wanted was a fresh start somewhere where no one knew me.
Just then I noticed my phone vibrating on my desk, interrupting my thoughts I got up and checked the caller ID, Jesse. No way was I going to let her dampen my spirits at this moment, I rejected the call.
Jesse and I were like two peas in a pod until the beginning of this year when things started to get a bit shaky. The minute Jesse and I met we had an instant friendship, we did everything together ever since the beginning of middle school, but now things have changed. Jesse was always jealous whenever I had a guy interested in me, even though she was getting guys throwing themselves at her in every direction, she had a thing for flirting with the ones that were interested in me, nothing had ever happened between the guys and her, apart from flirting. Except with matt it was different, he had changed everything.
A minute later my phone vibrated once again and I had received a text from Jesse. I was fighting the urge to read it, but I couldn’t resist I wanted to see what she was trying to tell me now.
Saph,
u cant keep avoiding me 4 Eva, u know sooner or later we will talk again.
E.g. in one week when skool starts. Summer’s over I want the drama to leave with it. Please call me.
I love you,
Jesse xxx.
After reading the message I felt my bright green eyes start to water up. No, I thought to myself, she just wants you to feel like ****, when you did nothing wrong.
Instead of feeling bad about ignoring Jesse, I went out and found some cardboard boxes and started packing. As I thought to myself. This is really happening! I’m getting out of here! I’m leaving the drama of LA behind! I’m moving to New York! And with that, I started singing the wombat’s song, “Moving to New York” as I packed.
Chapter One
Sapphire
Two Years Later…..
“Tay, I’m here” I yelled out to my roommate and best friend as I walked into my new dorm at NYPAS .First impression, big and empty. When you opened the door it lead onto a big square common room, with three bedrooms connecting of them, on one side of the common room was a massive glass window, over looking the south quad, the other wall had a sliding door leading onto a balcony that over looked the park. I liked it.
“Hey!! You’re here!” Tay said as she ran up to me and gave me a massive hug. “so what do you think?? As good as the last two years?” Tay asked while twirling a piece of her blonde wavy hair around her finger. “I like it, it’s bigger than the last two years and way better views, but it sure does need some lightening up!”
I said looking around the room. “Yeah I think so too, and we definitely need to paint the walls, I mean look at them!” Tay exclaimed while looking at the walls.
I had actually not noticed the walls until that moment, they were horrible. The 2 walls without windows were a beige colour, not even nice beige, dark beige.
“Oh and look, there are three bedrooms, which mean’s we can have more people stay over!” Tay yelled excitedly. “Um” I laughed, “I’m pretty sure it’s for a new roommate” “oh cool! I wonder what she is like, maybe she will end up being our competition” Tay answered.
“so….” I asked trying to ask casual,” any messages for me yet?” “No” Tay responded “he hasn’t called here yet, I thought he would have called your mobile?” “ No, I haven’t heard from him all week” I mentioned sadly. “look, im sure there are a million and one reasons why he hasn’t called” Tay said supportively. “like what?” I asked. “well um… maybe he let his mobile die and forgot to charge it, or he is so busy he hasn’t had any time to call, and if that doesent get your mind of it, pretend he has be
