I have a huge list to choose from, but which is best to start with? Jack Kerouac's on the road, Capote's in cold blood/breakfast at tiffany's or oscar wilde's picture of dorian grey? Or maybe another suggestion that I could use?

"Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley - if you like dystopian novels (backwards-utopia; supposed to be a perfect world, but in reality it's far from it) this is a very good novel. Some parts can be a bit difficult to read (I read it during AP Lang, but for fun), but it's one of those books that makes you think afterwards. It was basically a focus on some of society's problems back when it was written, and how the author thought they could develop. You'll find a lot of information in there that would be good in any AP Lang project.

"1984" and "Animal Farm" by George Orwell - These are both very good novels (and you will probably read something else by George Orwell later in the year). 1984 is another dystopian novel, and Animal farm is an allegory of the development of communism in the Soviet Union (basically, the story of communism is told using farm animals in a plot even small children could understand). Both of these novels are abundant with material to discuss in an AP Lang project.

"Black Boy" by Richard Wright - A part truth/part fiction story of the author's life growing up in the early 20th century. I had to read this for my AP Lang summer project. Very interesting novel, and you'll be able to find examples of many rhetorical devices everyone.

You should also give us an idea of what your project is about. Some novels would be better for certain projects.

on the line receives all the publicity for sure yet i trust Dharma Bums is a extra functional e book with characters it is a lot less complicated to sense empathy for. the excellence for sure is that Dharma Bums became written about a unmarried episode while on the Rod became actual initially some thing like 9 journeys yet his writer made him combine all the most suitable bits because it rambled too a lot. i come across the outcome is a pastiche of characters without the bones. He also wrote a good little crew of short thoughts stated as lonesome vacationer which has extremely the historic past for the different thoughts plus some extras. Visions of Cody is meant to be extremely good yet i have by no ability examine it, so is p.c.

Dorian Gray is a great one - look at how appearances can deceive and destroy.
