Looking to read a new book based off recommendations. I like magical/adventure books, such as harry potter, and also outdoor adventure books, like Wild or Into the Woods.

Any help is appreciated!

Even though it's not your type/criteria, but this book taught me some good values. "The secret life of plants" by Peter Tompkins & Christopher Bird.

Although this particular book doesn't fit your criteria, I just got done reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and would highly recommend it. It was stellar!

Lord of the Rings - this classic pretty much speaks for itself.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, which was a pretty fun read.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is AWESOME. I loved this series when I was younger. It's very similar to Harry Potter in certain ways.

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane was really good and sad, but aside from the fact that the main character's a stuffed rabbit, not much fantasy.

100 Cupboards was creepy and great.

Just to name a few :)

The Outlaw King series but S.A. hunt is pretty awesome. The first book, The Whirlwind in the Thorn Tree, is slow to start, but the second book is amazing and the third book seems pretty awesome too (I'm not quite done with it). The language can be weird and it's a little dark, but as far as adventure books go, I love it.

umm yes! i have wayyy too many book recommendations haha! let's see...

I really like the Dorothy Must Die series - it's like a Fairytale Twist series, I guess. Amazing author!

Also, The Selection series! I've been recommending it to everyone aha. Could NOT put it down!

And the Lunar Chronicals. First book is amazing, but something that's rare is, they get better as they go on!

Hmm, also I read a book called Glitter (can't remember who wrote it). It was a pretty good single novel, but was a lot like the Lunar Chronicles in my opinion.

Lastly, I recommend Heartless by Marissa Meyer. It's an amazing stand alone, fairy tale twist novel. The ending was heartbreaking, but it was well written and had some amazing plot twists.

Hope this helps, and if you decide to read them, I hope you love them! Honestly, I couldn't put any of these novels down, so I really really recommend them :) Happy reading ahaha

Lexicon by Max Barry. I thought it was great. Fast paced, fantasy, with some mystery involved.

But not really for kids.

I think you would love "The Ranger's Apprentice" By John Flanagan. I like books similar to the genre that you stated and I love the series. Also, Percy Jackson is very good. In my opinion however, it starts out very slow, but it picks up.

Try A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab (the second and third book are called A Gathering of Shadows and A Conjuring of Light, respectively) or The Abhorsen Trilogy (Sabriel, Lirael, Abhorsen) by Garth Nix or Wildman by J.C. Geiger.

I also agree with the guy who suggested Neverwhere! It's one of my favorites!

Go to the library and see what tickles your fancy. A guy on my block died the same day I found his book and eventually, life's work which I've been continuing with mine. That day, someone online also told me to suck a chode.

Guillaume Musso - Brooklyn girl.

Start reading, if you really have free time - you can not tear yourself away. I liked that in the book despite a couple of main characters, there are two plot lines. This is what leads to perplexity - which of them is the main one and will provide the clue. For a long time I read book with such interest. I did not expect a solution.

I would recommend anything by Tamora Pierce. Some adults don't know about her because her books are usually in the YA section. But I read an interview of hers and she said at first she didn't read have the YA audience in mind when she wrote her books. but only after her books became popular with the YAs that she started to write with them in mind. Basically that just means she started leaving out the premarital sex. Most of her books are written in what she calls quartets. and although its not necessary to read her books in any order, you do have to read the books within the same quartet in order. Also her earliest books may be hard to find - but they are worth finding. And all her books are fantasy/adventure/ romances. And her main protagonists are girls.

Right now I am rereading the "Sharing Knife" series by Bujold. Bujold is a fantastic author and does science fiction and fantasy equally well. The Sharing Knife is fantasy. Its a great story and upon re-reading it i am really impressed on how well constructed it is.
