You're on an elevator with a magazine publisher and you know she needs a story just like yours. Quick, tell her in one sentence or less what your story is about.

Got it? Good, now shorten it from there to a title.

Other choice, get a small quote from the story that tells something of its purpose and use that. Or, come up with a phrase that could be interpreted a few ways, including what your story is about.

Mine have been as simple as

Linda, the Box Turtle

or as complexes as

Cat Eyes (which was a marble contest, not anything about cats. lol)

I've used my main character's names as the title.

I've pulled phrases out of the story and made them the title.

Or a title about the idea of your story.

Like the title: Flight Not to Forget

The story was about a flight that would not be forgotten by the main character...and thensome.

Is there a particular word or phrase you have in your story? You could use that.

A title isn't wrong. You can have the title be whatever you'd like it to be.

Just think of the topics which your story covers and jot down any words that come to mind. You can then combine them to make a title.

For mine, I used a very short quote from in one of the paragraphs of my actual story. Maybe you could try that? Find a quote which is relevant to what your story is about, cut it down and make it your title.

Follow the story, get the gist, and make a tittle that is catchy and it is better if it is made of an idiomatic expression, or something with a double meaning :)

The names could be extremely elementary, this is you, the author that convey out their bitchiness! So hassle much less approximately names and greater approximately character progression. With be conscious processors you ought to use seek and replace to alter a character's call.

if you plan to send it to an editor you dont have to, usually its part of their job and unless its really brilliant it could give the impression of being unprofessional.

most of the times the title is a sentence or part of a sentence from inside the story, so you should try to find a pivotal one or one you particularly like and name the story after it.
