With plot details, if it makes anything confusing for the reader (or for you), then it shouldn't stay in. Like in my story, I had this idea that my characters had to get a book and a key, then a stone, but then I thought that the key was completely useless and didn't need to be in there - so I took it out. It's made the plot easier to follow, made plans easier to be told, and made the entire adventure more lenient. You get me? In this instance, less is more. With setting details, less is, once again, more, unless the setting is vital to the story. If you're going to go overboard and describe every little thing, then it'll drag on for the reader. I guess it won't drag on if you split the description up into little paragraphs, seperated by short scenes and dialogue; but, nonetheless, it is better to keep it to the essentials. If you want to get the atmosphere right for a place, by all means use the right words and just enough to give the reader specific knowledge, but try not to use as much as half a page when you're describing a town or a house. You still with me? Okay - onto the last bit! :D I like to know even the small things about the characters, even if they're unimportant. I want to get to know them, and the finer the detail, the deeper the character! If you can slip the odd fact about character A into their conversation with character B without going off on a tangent, that's cracking! The more, the merrier in this situation!

Cool list of what you have read.

What is missing are the greatest classics. I recommend the following:

Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte (Romance, Ghost)

Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte (Romance)

Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen (Romance, Society)

Dracula - Bram Stoker (Horror)

Frankenstein - Mary Shelley (Horror, Sci-fi)

1984 - George Orwell (Political satire)

Animal Farm - George Orwell (Political satire)

The Trail - Kafka (I don't know what to define this as, but definitely weird and definitely one of the best I have ever read).

All classics are free to read in WebLiterature, so easy to select, and incurs no cost.

O_O . Try Ghostgirl by Tonya Hurley. You can read anything by Ellen Hopkins and try Cut by Patricia Mccormick. Or stick to the classics, Dracula. Oh and like the guy above me said. Peeps, you DEFINETLY need to read it. I read it and it was awesome.
