Anyone know of any good books?

I haven't read a good book for a while. We've been reading assigned books for English class, which are not all that great. Winter break is coming up,and I'd also like a book to read on my break from studying for finals. I'm looking for a romance. Preferably teen. And absolutely NO supernatural! I'm so tired of books about the supernatural, especially vampires.

Any suggestions?

When i see the question "Anyone know of any good books?", it does make me chuckle a little. Of course there are good books. It's just a matter of finding them. :P

I take it that as you said no supernatural, you also mean no fantasy.

A book i always try to recommend is Little Brother by Cory Doctorow. I read this a few months ago and really loved it. When you read the back of it you assume that there is no romance, but really there is quite a lot.

Summary:

Marcus, a.k.a “w1n5t0n,” is only seventeen years old, but he figures he already knows how the system works - and how to work the system. Smart, fast, and wise to the ways of the networked world, he has no trouble outwitting his high school's intrusive but clumsy surveillance systems.

But his whole world changes when he and his friends find themselves caught in the aftermath of a major terrorist attack on San Francisco. In the wrong place at the wrong time, Marcus and his crew are apprehended by the Department of Homeland Security and whisked away to a secret prison where they're mercilessly interrogated for days.

When the DHS finally releases them, Marcus discovers that his city has become a police state where every citizen is treated like a potential terrorist. He knows that no one will believe his story, which leaves him only one option: to take down the DHS himself.

Many teenage girls like Sarah Dessen's books. I don't particularly, but you may. Check her out.

A really good summer read is Ann Brashares's Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series. And yes there is romance. The first book in the series is The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants :

Four best friends, one pair of jeans and a few important rules:

1. You must never wash the Pants.

2. You must never double-cuff the Pants. It's tacky. There will never be a time when this will not be tacky.

3. You must never say the word 'phat' while wearing the Pants. You must also never think 'I am fat' while wearing the Pants.

4. You must never let a boy take off the Pants (although you may take them off yourself in his presence).

5. You must not pick your nose while wearing the Pants. You may, however, scratch casually at your nostril while really kind of picking.

Carmen, Tibby, Lena and Bridget have been best friends all their lives. They live in the same small American town and usually spend every moment of their long summer holidays together. The year they turn 16 is the first time they have separate plans for the summer but the girls are determined to keep in touch. Tibby buys a pair of jeans in a second-hand shop and the girls discover that the trousers magically fit each of them perfectly, despite their different figures and heights. They hit upon a wonderful plan of sharing the jeans throughout the vacation - sending them on to the next friend when they feel the time is right. From Baja California to Greece, from film-making to football, the girls - and the traveling pants - encounter first love, family upset and fatal illness. Secure in the knowledge that their friendship is constant - and the symbol of it need never be more than a parcel-delivery away - the girls survive their summer and return home with a wealth of new experiences to share. A perfect teen-chick summer read; a quirky, humorous and memorable cut above the rest.

Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson:

Murphy McGowen has bright green eyes, a reputation as the wildest girl in Bridgewater, and a way of getting out of all the trouble she gets into. But when she's caught stealing from the Darlington Orchard, she's forced to repay her debt picking peaches in the hot Georgia sun.

Leeda Cawley-Smith has professionally whitened teeth and the softest skin her boyfriend has ever touched. Unfortunately, Leeda's parents aren't too keen on her being touched anymore. Now Leeda's country-club summer is out the window -- she'll be getting a serious sock tan working at her uncle's peach orchard instead.

Birdie Darlington used to dance around her family's orchard picking peaches for fun. But now that her parents are getting divorced, Birdie would rather spend the summer in the A/C eating Thin Mints than pick another peach -- too bad she doesn't have a choice.

Thrown together at Darlington Orchard, Murphy, Leeda, and Birdie discover what it means to find a real soul mate, and that sometimes cute boys know a lot about peach cider. And, of course, they learn the trick to picking a perfect peach. One thing's for sure -- it's going to be a juicy summer.

The bible has romance in it, it is also way crazy and interesting. It's like many different kinds of books in one! But anyways, I know your looking for romance books but The Five Love Languages is just an interesting book also. Just throwing that out there. Let's see, a walk to remember and the last song, the books are better then the movies. Or Just Listen, Lock and Key, and The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. This must be love by tui t. sutherland.

Go to Amazon.com and search

"Lost from Atlantis Book 1" - book 2 is coming out in the next month or two, and 3 is already written and in editing.

"Death by Murder David Lindsay" - you have to search that way for it to come up. There's a lot of sex and violence in it but it's good, not gratuitous.

and "Super Spaghetti."

They're free on Amazon's Kindle Unlimited, and you can Google how to get a free trial of that. And you can get a free Kindle app for your phone or just read them online.
