Question:
Have you ever read a Shakespeare book for your own pleasure or curiosity?

I'm actually doing that for the first time. I recently bought myself a copy of a Shakespeare book called A Midsummer Night's Dream. It's pretty interesting so far, and it's not that hard to understand. And the only Shakespeare book I actually liked was Hamlet. I hope I like A Midsummer Night's Dream!

Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream is one of my favorite comedies. Since it was written to be performed, I might suggest reading it aloud to simulate a performance. Shakespeare examines almost all the different foibles that "love" causes men and women to fall into, and the results can be hilarious. As you read, try to imagine the actors performing it as they chase each other across the stage, or as Titania and Bottom settle into her bower.

You may also want to do just a wee bit of research into the characters. Thesesus was a Greek of comparable repute to Hercules. Hipolyta was an Amazon queen that Thesesus had kidnapped. Pyramis and Thisbee is an ancient fable that forms the basic story line of Romeo and Juliet.

Hope this helps.

Oh my gosh! Dude, I LOVE Shakespeare! :) My favorite ones are Romeo & Juliet, The Taming of the Schrew, and I think Midsummer Night's Dream if it's the one I'm thinking of.

And did Shakespeare also write something that said this somewhere? "Oh Amour, how I love thee?" or IS that a line from Romeo & Juliet? It's been awhile since I've read Shakespeare but man do I love Shakespeare!

By the way, what is "La Raza"? Does it mean "the revolution?" :)

I absolutely loved Curious George when I was a kid. I loved the one in the toy store and then the one at the pizza place... The first long boko I ever read was the first book from a series called "McGee and Me." I was so into as I remember and I was reading with a mini flash light under the covers at night when I shoul have been sleeping. The night I finished it I was so excited that I forgot I was hiding my night reading from my parents. I ran into my parent's room jumping up and down and screaming that I finally finished my book. I think they were so happy at my happiness over reading the book that they couldn't even be mad.... Kind of like the time they found out I had been getting away with forging their signatures on homework ["pink"] slips and notes home in the 4th grade ( I think or maybe it was a different grade). Oh yeah I got in trouble but man they were impressed that I got away with it for so long and each thing was really trivial but in the end someone figured it out and I def got punished.... ;o) Anyways, I love to read for pleasure now. I still have a thing for reading when I should be sleeping. Kind of like being on the computer when I should be sleeping or doing my summer semester stuff..... Good night! ;o)

I have Shakespeare's complete works, so I've read plenty of his stuff for my own pleasure. Shakespeare is quite entertaining - he has sex, violence, betrayal, love - just about every element people gush over in modern day literature just in slightly more complex language.

Oh god, I hated Shakespeare. I have to learn about him in English and it sucked it was long and boring and were doing Romeo and Juliet.

Both! I read Romeo and Juliet on my own, but I must admit I enjoyed his sonnets the best.
