Question:
Why do some Twilight Haters know the books better than the supposed rabid fangirls?
2008-11-29 07:16:43 UTC
I just saw a question where a hater asked about Edward's music tastes and a fangirl said something like "NO YOUR ABSOLUTELY RONG OMG AND EDWARD IS HAWT." to which the hater had a quote from the book to back his point... so why do the haters know the books better than the lovers?

As a hater, we need to be able to back up our statements. Unlike the rabid fangirls, we dissect and analyze books for flaws and strengths.

Considering that we are going up against a vast majority of people who are obsessed with the series, we need to be able to logically explain ourselves.

There are so many rabid fangirls that they can spew whatever sh*t they want and don't have to worry about being hated by the majority. Personally, I've had friends break up with me simply because I criticized the book from a literary standpoint. Pathetic, don't you think?

I love Twilight. There is a difference between Twilight lovers and Edward lovers.

I read all of the Twilight books. I liked the idea of them. They were very different than any other book I have ever read. Stephenie Meyer developed good plots and developed the characters in such unique ways I really enjoyed reading about them. She is not the best writer ever but has a style to her writing that is really good. Twilight isn't all that well-written, but it's ADDICTING. You just have to know what happens next. I had Breaking Dawn spoiled for me, but the events were so shocking, and by the time I finished it I couldn't stop thinking about Twilight. I analyzed the movie to the book, and although things were changed, they did a very good job overall on it.

Now, I can't stop thinking about Twilight. I'm not like "OMG EDWARD IS SOO HOT OMG HES MINE." or "TEAM JACOB <3 WOLVES" Those people just read the books because of the hot guys and stuff. Which I think is stupid. I liked the ideas and the events in the books. I always thought about the little details and how they helped the plot of the book and things as that, or the importance of the quotes.

I think some haters hate the books because of the so-called lovers. They can't STAND those people saying "OMG I HEART EDWARD." I can't, either. The haters read the books and analyze them. They pick up on details that the "lovers" don't notice. The lovers notice the main events and Edward's hotness and Jacob's snide comments. The haters ignore those things and pick up more on the details. At least that's what I think.

I did notice that. Good question. I answered a lot of questions wherein the Twilighters gave a totally wrong answer and even had the nerve to put in 'Sources' "An obsessed Twilighter." In which I edited and wrote: "Your answer is wrong. Honestly, the haters know more than the lovers."

That is because we actually digest what we're reading. We do not simply turn off our brain. Even if it's a book as disgusting as Twilight, I have to analyze it and knows its flaws, in order to back up my statements and opinions. Don't you think it would be embarrassing if you were stopped short by a screaming fangirl? Oh, and incidentally, my mind is known for remembering even the littlest details. Yes, I know, I'm weird. I have often been told that. :)

Hmm. Good question. I know details because I used to be over-the-top-obsessed. So I could have told you that he doesn't like seventies music, but prefers classical. I don't know, but I suppose you could say that it's proof that haters DO know what they're talking about and are NOT "just jealous" and that's why they hate Twilight. That we HAVE done our research.

And yes, it's also because we have the ability to filter through the poofy, sweet, top layer of the books and realize the things wrong with it. And of course, you need examples from the book to back your opinions (of which I have many). So, all this analyzation contributes to our knowledge of Twilight.

Also, not to mention, that since there are so few personality traits and such that you can attribute to the characters, little things like Edward's music preference isn't hard to remember. You know what I mean? I can also remember Bella reading and liking Romeo and Juliet and I think Wuthering Heights, because Meyer tells us NOTHING ELSE about her personal tastes and personality.

at circumstances, Haters would be basically as undesirable as Fangirls, yet this is barely interior the case of the hardcore hatred or hardcore fangirling. basically like there are Twilight followers who like the sequence yet do no longer bypass to extremes for it, there are people who do in comparison to Twilight, say it, and are executed with it. it actual relies upon on the guy. it is not probably well worth getting so worked up approximately (it is prosperous, coming from me), yet Twilight's the massive, usual fad top now. each thing usual has its vehement followers and vocal haters. this is basically the way it is often been.

The answer is simple.

The so-called twilight 'lovers' like it because they don't really read it, they only concentrate on how 'OMGG EDWARD IS SO HAWWT" is. While the haters actually read the books properly and know that twilight is rubbish.

Believe me, if Smeyer made Edward an ugly guy or something, it won't be as popular. Smeyer knew she wasn't a good writer, so she made a whole group of unrealistic 'beautiful' characters, aka, Edward, to get girls to read her books. She somehow failed though, not ALL the girls like it. Aka, me.

I hate the Twilight series, but didn't read it and don't intend to (it's just me personally because I hate almost everything mainstream, but that's a different story).

I think it's just because the haters have a clearer sense of reality than the rabid fangirls. Like, since they're not obsessed, they don't waste time drooling over how "hot" Edward is or something, and they can logically state the reasons why they dislike the books. Most rabid and overly obsessed fangirls just like the series because of Edward, the haters see that the Twilight series is just fairytale with very little overall depth and has a "happily ever after" ending.

As for the little details, I think it's because they read the book and didn't like it and decided to find things to degrade Edward with, or like me, they read the summary (everything) on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twilight_(series)

Just because a person doesn't like something doesn't mean they didn't pay attention while reading it.

I try to pay attention to details in all the books I read. \

Of course I miss things, but some things stick out in my mind and if someone asks a question to which I know the answer, I'll answer it even if I disliked the book. I like to help people find answers, so even if it means googling something or re-looking up something in a book I don't like, I'll do it to be helpful.

To hate something and not know much about it is hypocritical.

As for knowing details, many 'haters' read the books and enjoyed them for what they are: junk food books, a nice little vampire/love story distraction. What they really hate are the fangirls who try to turn Twilight into something more, like a well-written and enduring piece of literature instead of a pop culture fad.

I'll tell you from my point of view.... I hate twilight. I know the books better than others because people just sit there talking about it all day and when you hate the book, you don't just want to be excluded from the conversation. So you learn about the books as everyone gives you little tidbits to the story. Quite frankly, the books aren't that bad, its just crazy to go overboard with these books. All its good for is popularity. People think they read the book, then they're cool. But newsflash, in my school I have never seen any popular kids reading the Twilght series. Seriously girls. GET A GRIP! REALITY CHECK! ☺☻

They look at the book differently. They don't see anything that Twilighters do. They see the words, and there meanings, so they become easier to quote.

Lmao. Coming from a "hater" (I read the books to mock them and yet cannot stop oh god help me..) I guess haters just subconsciously remember all the silly things that they made fun of. Fangirls I think tend to just pay attention to the sexy parts of the book.. Idk. But I like the book and like making fun of it.

Because they analyze the books. When you analyze something, you're essentially digesting it, thus you understand it better and are more likely to know it better than someone who simply read it. Most of the people who know what's wrong with Twilight--including people who do like Twilight, as there are people out there who like Twilight, but they realize its flaws--have a more sophisticated sense of what's good and what's not, thus no matter what they're reading, they're analyzing it, which is why they know so much more about it than the fans do.

Even if Twilight did have literary value, the fans would never appreciate Twilight for that. They would only drool over the hotness of Edward.

EDIT: That isn't a little detail, actually. This person probably noticed this about Edward and decided to make fun of him for it. Immature, I know, but it's better than going around and doing this: LYK EDWARD IS SO HAWT! OMGGGGGGGGGG!

It's because the second time I read it, I used a more analytical eye. The first time I read it, it was for pure enjoyment. All of the fans aren't looking out for the structure, plot, or all of the things I kept an eye open for.
2008-11-29 07:23:22 UTC
Because they actually read the books, and analyse them properly. Most girls are just lured by Edward's "hotness" that they fail to actually take in anything beyond that, like for instance, the author's use of literacy devices which I must say, is not even close to J.K Rowling's.

Hi there,

We know the thing better because we reflect on what we read, and not simply swallow everything behind a "Twilight"-cover as the pure and invincible wisdom. We question the text, we question the writer.

Which proves two things:

1) Haters have dealt with the text at a far more elaborate level, and therefore should be listened to.

2) To love "Twilight", you need to turn off your brain while reading it, so you cannot keep track of its many flaws.

Cheers

That's a very good question. I personally love the series, and i do hate haters. I guess the reason they say they hate the Saga is for attention.

personally I think it's because they want the attention and they go looking for reasons to hate.

It's a very good observation and I think this question should be expressed to more haters-of-Twilight.
do i dare disturb the universe?
2008-11-29 14:30:08 UTC
Because we actually have reading comprehension skills and can see past "LOLHOT EDWARD".
2008-11-29 07:32:07 UTC
Haters are the smarter people and they pay attention to what they read. You would never truely hate it for you haven't read it.

Never read Twilight, Never will. But I have read the summaries and some quotes.

The quotes are cheesy and cliched. "Do I dazzle you".
2008-11-29 07:23:51 UTC
They need to know the book to make sure they get their facts and figures right, so when they make fun of the book, the don't feel stupid when some-ones says they got it wrong. They want to rip the book apart thread by thread, so they need to analyse the books to make sure they can fully scorn the books, and at the same time, pointing at that what they say is true by using solid evidence from the books.

Haters just don't make sense.

i think they hate it becuase they must have been like some of the first fans, and then it became some HUGE thing!
