Question:
Is this a good short story/novel idea?

It's genre is fantasy -

Basically there is a world where Humans and "Fairy Creatures" live together. They are separated by The Human Kingdom which is protected by Knights while the politicians are Lords and the Royal family. While the Fairy Creatures have a High Council, within the council the individual fairy races hold seats. The Elves are the "leaders" of the Non-Humans, The Dwarfs are the "back bone", and there are smaller races such as goblins, orcs, and other mythical type creatures.

There has been 2 "Great Race" wars between Humans and Non-Humans. The result of each has been Human expansion. But current events are leading up to a 3rd "Great War" which a new generation of Human Knights will be a part of.

The book will follow a teenage Knight who is beginning his career as the rank of "Knight-ling". As a Knight-ling he is put in a squad of three other Knight-lings commanded by a Captain. Unknown to the antagonist he is the one that will either save Humanity and the world or end it.

Each character introduced will have his/her background some are interesting in itself. There are more details such as Dragons, Prophecies, Human Guilds(Warriors, Magi, Monk, and Thieves).

I'll give you my honest opinion:

It sounds cliche because I've heard this plot multiple times

Your story sounds like a version of Animal Farm by George Orwell, but if you can come up with a completely different story, I think it'd be great. Use the same setting as before, but maybe take it to a whole new level...it's you're book, write away!

Use between the numerous already usual plots and upload a twist. it is exaggerating yet working occasion, Romeo and Juliet with aliens or something. No plot is unique, and in case you experience it is basically too obvious, connect 2 be attentive to plots, and BAM!

If you want to write it, then write it! Practicing writing will only make you a better writer but if you want to write something original and ground breaking you need to find something that's less cliche and more original.
