I dont know if this is the best on the Medicis, but I enjoyed The Secret Supper by Javier Sierra tremendously. It was basically about Leonardo, but the Medicis played a part in it.
I also loved Medici Women: Portraits of Power, Love, and Betrayal in the Court of Duke Cosimo by Gabrielle Langdo but it is a very pricey book. Check with the library. Pax - C.

I would recommend The Medici Letters by Taylor Buck. If you like fiction (with a healthy dose of Medici family facts) in the form of a mystery (a la DaVinci Code) then you will enjoy this book. I read it while in Florence and absolutely loved it.
