Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is the best play I've ever read, but I'm confused as to what the phrase means, and how it plays into the story.

Cat on a hot tin roof comes from an expression: "She's jumpier than a cat on a hot tin roof." It's comparing someone to a cat forced to walk on hot metal, which would make the poor cat jump around in agony. Does that help?

If you were to put a cat onto a hot tin roof - what would it do?
I realise that sounds quite cruel, but then life can seem cruel

The cat will be really jumpy so the play was maybe about Someone in a crisis??
