Question:
Tips for a teenage writer...?

I'm around fourteen (going on fifteen in October) and I'm currently writing a story which I'm hoping to get published. This story has just underwent a major revamp plot-wise and character-wise from my first (uncompleted) version, and I'm determined to get it finished. The problem is, it's the familiar tale of transfer student-popular girl fight - even though I've put the entire tale in a school where everyone except the transfer student is... not your typical, every-day student in a school.

Could you suggest different ways to put a more interesting spin on the story so it doesn't end up like "Gossip Girl", "The Clique", the "Private" series and the like? And will publishing companies publish writers at my age? Thanks :)

Are you sure you don't want it to end up like Gossip Girl? I'm sure the writer is a millionaire by now...:)

If seriously, you need something absolutely catchy, different from everything else. At first, try do determine the audience. Are you writing for Sheoll girls? For adults? For kids? What do you want people to get out of your book? Do you want it to be kind of a walk-through the tough teenage life? Or you want it be about relationships and drama? Or maybe this is all not right for you, and your story has to be some kind of fantasy? Or may be even horror?

Try to think about how can you differentiate and make your story different. Think about what are you interested in reading. What you get something new out of your book?

In fact, in todays world it is really tough to create something different, as there are so many things that are already written! But if you really have a talent you will succeed!

Good luck!

Some do, but it's a little bit harder. If you intend to write more than one book, you could try Poppy Publishers, but they usually only publish the elite-high class ***** books. I would throw some romance in there, just like transfer student steals main catty girls boyfriend(s!) etc. Get secrets about some of the really catty girl's families/school/etc if you want to make it more b!tchy. :) Good luck.

You could make it more interesting by being set in the future with lots of gadgets or something like that.

If the story is well written and the publishers like it then yes they will publish you but see how you feel after you've written it. You migth decide not to bother publshing it or something.

add a stephen king'ish rancid twist to the plot

with a little of stephen hawking's theorizing

you're ready to go!

big time publicists will be lining up in queue for royalty rights

You could give you main character a handycap - missing limb or a lisp.
