I like fictional books that involve mental institutions Like I loved Absolute Fear by Lisa Jackson and if there is any books out there like that one I'd love to know. Need some good books to read got a 15hour car ride so any you could think of let me know. Thanks!

It is not fiction, but Simon Winchester wrote a fascinating book titled The Professor and the Madman. The madman is in a mental institution through the bulk of the book and it tells the story of how the madman was able to help the professor so much in his career. And the professor was not a medical doctor. He was writing the Oxford English Dictionary.

I truly recommend it. A terrific read.

I just finished It's Kind of a Funny Story which was about a teen who checked himself into a mental institution and that was great.

Hmm this isn't exactly about mental institutions but it is very interesting. Try "Flowers for Algernon" by Daniel Keyes. Its a classic.
