I haven't been into reading for awhile, and I think a good way to get back into it is with a good suspense novel. Some pop lit, nothing too deep right now, but something that is a good page turner. Any recommendations?

I don't like a lot of gore or books with a high body count. I would be interested in a conspiracy thriller, Ludlum-esque. A good spy story.

Anything by Harlen Coben...His books are a quick easy read...because it is too hard to put them down once you've started reading it! They keep you on the edge, waiting to see what is coming next. His books are stories of suspence and intrigue, with his characters often crossing over from book to book . Just when you think you have outwitted Coben and figured out "who dunnit", he throws you another curve and you are left sitting with your mouth agape as you read yet another twist to the plot!

I guarantee that any one of his books will be just what you are looking for.

Some of his titles:

The Woods (his latest)

Deal Breaker

Tell No One

Gone for Good

No Second Chance

Just One Look

The Innocent

Promise Me

I'm sure you can find his works in your local library or bookstore.

Happy Reading!!

It's dated, and unexpectedly really good. But my favorite suspense thriller that I can read and reread is Louis L'Amour's Last of the Breed.

It's about a U.S. pilot, an Indian, who's shot down over Communist Russia and flees across Siberia with a Russian Colonel and tracker after him. It's an unexpected spy story, it's a modern day story set in the wilderness, but the high tech stuff shows up too. It's a modern men who also have old time skills fighting it out.

A total page turner, if you can deal with the Cold War time frame and the low-tech/high tech mix.

The Wind-up Bird Chronicle, by Haruki Murakami. This book is an absolute page turner. 607 pages to be exact. You're always anticipating what's going to happen next and you never know what's going to come out of the characters mouths. Great book and great author!!

okay you gotta read 'Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment', 'Maximum Ride: School's Out Forever', and 'Maximum Ride: Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports" all are by James Patterson, and they are AWESOME.....also, um, the Harry Potter series and the Tomorrow Series by John Marsden followed by the Ellie Chronicles, also by John Marsden both those are about war, but i don't think they are very gory....and um the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and anything else by J.R.R. Tolkien....I know some of these books don't exactly fit what you said, but they are so good and you should definitely check them out.....

Pretty much anything by Tom Clancy then. Read The hunt for Red October, it is much better than the book, and you dont have to look at that two bit hack, Alec Baldwin.

I suggest "Eragon." It's fairly long (600+ pg) or a spy story but it's an awsome page-turner. (a lot better than the movie!!)
