I just finished reading this series.....read them all one right after the other. Absolutely loved them.
Can anyone suggest a good series to start on now?

What an outstanding series! I'm just about half-way done with "A Breath of Snow and Ashes", but I've read the first four about 5 times each, and the 5th one maybe 3 times. I adore this series! Have you read the Janet Evanovich series with Stephanie Plum? They're not as long or as deep as Gaboldon's, but they're funny and a quick read. I think there are 13 of them out now, and she has some independent of the series books out too.

Edited to add: I also enjoyed John Sandford's "Prey" series. There's a bunch of them out too. Kind of mystery type books, but very well written and attention keeping.

Through a Glass Darkly & Dark Angels by Karleen Koen in that order.

Elizabeth George's Inspector Lynley books. She's a wonderful writer if you like English style mysteries. They're now a PBS Mystery Theatre series.

Not a series, but Margaret George's Books.... The Autobiography of Henry the Eighth, MARY QUEEN OF SCOTLAND AND THE ISLES,THE MEMOIRS OF CLEOPATRA, Mary called Magdalene, Helen of Troy.

Phillip Pullman - His Dark Materials Trilogy (a young adult series, but just wonderful if you like fantasy with great characters. The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass..

If you can find the English editions even better because each chapter opens with an interesting quote, that seems to be missing in some of the American editions. Now being made into a film. http://www.philip-pullman.com/. These are also wonderful audio books.

For great laughs and and lots of fun to read, the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich...

Daniel Silva's books featuring art restoring/Israeli spy Gabriel Allon.

Oh boy, I can go on and on.

That series is fab. I so fancy Jamie!!!! she is due to write a couple more and there is a website dedicated to the books. The website is http://www.cco.caltech.edu/~gatti/gabaldon/gabaldon.html.

you should check it out. Another good series I read is the Darktower series by Stephen King- not as spooky as his usual stuff and has a great cast of characters which are in all 7 books.
