I really liked the Marked series (by P.C. and Kristen (spelling?) Cast). Also, when I was younger, the Maximum Ride series was just amazing. I haven't had time to get back into reading, but some old favorites of mine were:

Maximum Ride (the series)

Marked (the series)

Evolution: Me and Other Freaks of Nature

The Lovely Bones

Vibes

Wicked (a two-part book)

(Not sure of the title of this one)-Wolf: The Journey Home (?)

Eragon (very long, sometimes hard to understand, in my opinion)

I forgot most of them actually. And as for the whole Twilight series, New Moon is the best of the books. I hated Breaking Dawn. Sorry if you've already read them and/or keep getting the Twilight suggestion.

Lol, the Vampire Diaries very similar to Twilight, though the books arn't that good, the TV show is much better. I liked the Percy Jakson series, the most similar series to Harry Potter I have ever seen. The Pendragon series is amazing. Although Percy Jackson is really funny, it's not really that sad. But Pendragon is really underated, only selling like a million and a half copies, but it'll make you think (at least it starts getting good at the third book), it's sometimes funny, and it's sad in the last book. The Inheritance Cycle(Eragon,Eldest, and Brisingr) is very thoughtful and mature, but not funny at all. Well, mostly I reccoment Percy Jackson and then Pendragon if you're an early teen (13,14, and mayb 15) if you're more mature Eragon or Vampire Diaries. Well, that's about it, I hope I helped!

The Harry Potter Series would top my list for all three criteria. An yes, HP is tonnes better than Twilight.

Love Story and Oliver's Story by Erich Segal are really good.

Laugh- Very Good Jeeves by P.G. Wodehouse(other stuff by Wodehouse is also brilliant), The Princess Diaries(1-7) by Meg Cabot, actually everything by Meg Cabot makes you laugh as well as sort those stupid issues. Very good chicklit.

other interesting reads are anything by Roald Dahl, O. Henry, Jeffrey Archer (pick the short stories, they won't be tiresome)

Books that get you thinking would be The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, Enchantress of Florence by Salman Rushdie

hope this helps :)

The Moonwalk Series! It made me laugh, cry and think (and scream in some parts)

There is six books and none of them got boring at all! This has no vampires and all that Twilight stuff!

It really is good so check it out!

Ps: Slow readers tend to read it in 2 weeks (personal experience)

I'm really into saga books....THAT ARE NOT !@#$ TWILIGHT! pardon my french ;P

i love the maximum ride series! there fun, wacky, action packed, and romantic oh except the forth installment -.- that was kinda lame.. :D but other than that brain fart they're awesome :D there about these teen that get experimented on and have bird hybrid DNA in them and escape their facility so basically imagine sarcastic hormonal teens that can fly around a city they barely knew that exist..ya that's how awesome it was :P i also suggest the book speak who's author has slipped my brain.... and twisted........and if your into holocaust books i just read Alicia my story and it was a fantastic read and inspiring :) go ask Alice is also i sweet book about a girls battle against drugs ((no spoilers!))

She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb

It's my favorite book ever it's sooo good and definantly makes you cry, laugh, and think. It's pretty much just about this girl's life minus all the cliche fake things that are in WAY too many books. But it's more interesting than that made it sound (I hate twilight too) :)

Okay, I reaaaly suggest to you the Da Vinci code, Angels and Demons, and The Lost Symbol. They are all by Dan Brown and have some really sad parts, some really funny parts, and of course they make you think. Ever since I read the Da Vinci code I couldn't put it down and then I had to go get Angels and Demons, etc. They are really good.

when i read: "promise me" , and "the innocent" by harlan coben they were surprisingly good especially for something i wouldnt normally read. i like historical romances the best and if you want to try reading something like that i suggest my personal favs, the de warenne dynasty by brenda joyce, or "love letters from a duke", "confessions of a little black gown", and "memoirs of a scandalous red dress" by elizabeth boyle, someone to love by jude deveraux, and high stakes by rebecca brandewyne.
