Is this way too slow for you?

I am in page 60 of my novel and I am right in the middle of the climax. Well, it's not actually the climax but the moment in which SOME ends come together. Do you think that 60 pages are way too much for the action to start? I mean, in the rest of the pages (from the beginning) there is some suspense because there are some secrets etc. And then there is some more insight on the character, the relationships, meetings which are pretty weird (I am not going to say what happens) so there is some level of OMG whats going to happen. Then, in page 55 everything goes down and you end up like ... WHAT?! So I just want to ask if 50-60 pages are way too much for the big kahuna to explote?

Without knowing your complete story your question is difficult to answer. Some complete stories take three pages to tell; others less. Some complete stories can't be told in less than six hundred pages; others more. Your story will not fit into a frame or a mold no matter what is expected. To make a good story you must make it just right, not too short, not too long, just the right length with all of the details that make it right and none of the details that make the story too short or too long.

Well it very much depends on the content of the previous 59 pages, which I don't have, and so it's impossible to tell.

I will say, however, that for a novel to be half way through at 60 pages...It's not that long. I'd say it's quite short, actually.

Anyway, as i said, it depends on the content. Without the content, i'd not be able to give a balanced, informed opinion.

No, it's fine. If that's the way the story is supposed to be, just leave it how it is. However, if you haven't had some conflict in the first 60 pages you might want to work on that. And besides, most readers could fly through sixty pages in less than half an hour. I know I could. So I think it would be fine.

That's what happened to my novel and let me tell you this:

You won't be happy with it. If you choose to open up that fast and don't like it, you have to re-write the whole thing.

Let the readers take some time to get used to the plot. Don't rush into anything--it may end up poorly written or people might lose interest. Suspense is a great thing:)

But it all depends on how you feel!

People don't read books waiting for the action to start. They read books that are well written. Reading a book in not like playing a video game. There is no rule in writing a good book that says action has to start no later than page XX.

So in answer to your question - It depends.

I would say around page 100 would be good

At that length, it sounds like a novella, not an actual full-length novel.
