What's a 'curt' nod?

What does it mean if someone 'cants' their head? Is that the same as tilting it or cocking it?

Yeah I need a LOT of help with describing expressions and body movement....know any good websites or a book or something?

Thanks.

You're correct with the definition of canting.

A curt nod is a short, crisp nod--a brisk nod.

Do you mean, like, someone nods curtly? If anyone does anything curtly it's short, brisk, and like 'I don't care'.

You're right with the canting definition.

Curt means so quick as to be borderline rude, so a curt nod is a quick nod when some sort of talking (e.g. "yes, please" or "yes, that's right") would have been appropriate instead.
