Question:
Why do girls like Twilight?

Okay I read it at the insistence of my girlfriend (who dislikes that she likes twilight and definitely doesn't think that it's worth the hype) and I must say it wasn't terrible, but it certainly isn't worth the attention it's getting.
I mean it's not excitingly or very well written but I'll leave that aside, sometimes you want to read a book for its story as opposed to its literary value.
But the fact of the matter is there are so many better vampire stories out there. 'Salem's lot by Stephen King? Any of Anne Rice's vampire chronicles? Anyone?
The counter argument is that it's a romance novel over a vampire novel, but the thing is it's not even that great as a romance. I got tired of Edward constantly saying "if you were smart you'd stay away." Yeah, we get it. Markus Zusak wrote some great "getting the girl" style books.
I've seriously been trying to find a valid argument as to why Twilight has become a nationwide craze. Please don't just answer this with a stereotypical "EDWARD IS ADOOOORABLE." It's unhelpful and will perpetuate my negative feelings

Because Bella is an ordinary girl just like them, who this perfect, rich, unique physical specimen falls for despite having absolutely nothing in common with her.

Why worry about whether you're a nice person, or interesting to be with, or friendly, or just the kind of person that anyone might want to spend time with? Edward doesn't care - he'll love you just the way you are, no effort required. Real relationships require effort and compromise.

In short, it's the sort of fantasy we all have at some point. What I can't figure out is how it ever made it into print.

I agree with Raylie, most girls want the perfect boy. And Meyer gave them that kinda. I love the books granite the first two books were a lot better than the last two, and I can't wait for the movie but when I read the books I didn't even care if she needed up with Edward or Jacob, And I didn't want her to become a vampire! So, see I'm not obsessed nor delusional, mind you, I'm a bit of a strange fan. I not even like Edward or Jacob that much my favorite is Alice. See, I don't follow the fan guide lines.

Despite the length of the books, I find it to be a fairly poor piece of literature. I have read the first two, and the two main characters completely lack originality. Bella is nothing but a sniveling girl who takes advantage of some people, and then grovels at the feet of others. Edward is obviously a vampire thirsty for, ironically, Bella's blood, and at the same time he is abstinent from drinking from humans. In all sense Edward should draw himself away from such a 'dangerous 'individual-- that, or eat her. Many people fail to notice that the characters circulating around the main pair, such as Alice, Jasper, Jacob, and the rest of the crew are a lot more interesting, and less involved in cliche lives to match those of the main characters.

Breaking Dawn was the sh*t (literally). She fawns over Edward and when they do it, they get it DONE. Edward beats the bloody mess out of her without her noticing because I guess getting ****** by a marble cock is mesmerizing enough to not notice you're being bruised like a beat-down banana. Ed is too afraid to hump her again, but Bella seduces him (???~!!!!) with the sorriest lines and he does her again. This time he can focus his horny powers and busts the headboard open. And, oh yeah, he bites pillows. Because to 12-30+ year old women, men who bite pillows are fierce lovemakers. Honestly, I'd be wondering what the **** his problem was.

I stopped there (I'd been looking for reading-porn, but this was ridiculous) but from what I heard, Bella goes all Alien and has a kid go BLAM from her cooch in a hard placenta. She spits up "fountains" (meyer's own words) of blood. Nice. But the b*tch don't die.

All girls want to hope for a perfect man and Stephenie Meyer made Edward and a few other characters easy for teenage girls to love.... A little too much in fact. Some girls actually think Edward is real.

I read all the books and loved them. Can't wait for the movie, but I'm definitely not obsessed or delusional like some fans.

Well, I've never heard of it but I am a horror buff who watched The Exorcist at 10 years of age and has read everything Stephen King has ever written and 'Salem's Lot scared the crap out of me. No way is this Twilight thing better. And Taltos and the other Rice books are great.

i don't understand the hype either. To me,Mr Cullen seems like a control, obsessive freak and a stalker. The worst thing is that Bella doesn't seem to mind his behavior at all just because he is a "hot, sexy vampire"

It's just stupid. I would immediately try to break away from my boyfriend if he had the same characteristics as Edward Cullen.

Well, I think the main character is someone every girl can relate to. I liked it just cause it was a fun love story. Its also a new twist on the old vampire tales which I thought was cool.

to Eward s, he does actually have a birthday in the book, June 20th 1901. so they have hardly made it up.

but anyway to answer your question, i think that it is extreme to think that he is real...thats just weird...but i do agree with what most people have said, that alot of girls dream about having a guy as perfect as Edward Cullen.

But i spose its their choice. if Edward Cullen is their new Romeo, then i spose thats their decision to make.

But i agree...it can be a little over the top sometimes.

i mean i love the series, and of course Edward

<--------- I love E.Cullen

but i guess there is a point where it is too obsessive.

but the twilight fan haters are srsly lame.

I think the young girls like the tingly feeling they get in their crotch, when their brains get sucked out of their head while reading these books. I also think you are right about these brain dead bimbos thinking the characters in the book are real. They ask questions like, when is Edward's birthday? Then a bunch of other bimbos come up with all kinds of different dates.

I have a little trouble wrapping my head around how stupid these girls actually sound, while talking about these books. I know they all can't be that dumb, but they step up, one after the other, and prove me wrong.

Because the books have characters like Edward that know how to treat a girl!!

They all dream of Edward Cullen. The truth is HE IS MADE UP! So is Jacob Black.

i like twilight alot, its a love story. im also in a long distance relationship and have been for two years and reading romance novels makes me feel a little less lonely when surrounded by couples.its a vampire book, ive been in love with "monsters" my whole life, even my imaginary friends as a child were ghosts, mummies, zombies, vampires so its a big part of who i am. its getting a bunch of hype because of the movie coming out, just like harry potter wasnt as popular until the movies came out. i think a bunch of girls like it because its not dark but it can still have something cool like vampires in it, i like dark vampires but twilight vampires are cool too its something different.

Stephanie Meyer is an excellent writer: she has given us the perfect guy - Edward Cullen.

It's not all about the Vampires, I don't think thats the point and it is such a good romance, it shows how girls truley think about guys - all the akward little things.

Edward is all ways saying he's not good for her because it's true, their worlds arent meant to be together. but they make it work.

Girls aren't the only ones who love Twilight.

So just please get over your feelings towards the book and stop pestering those who enjoy it.

I hate Twilight. I hate Edward. I hate Bella. I hate all the others. I've heard of tv shows sucking out yours minds but never books. Why don't people read proper books??? I'm a preteen who doesn't like it. I like other things that preteens girls like like The Jonas Brothers but not Twilight. Most of the girls at my school don't read anyway so they don't like twilight either.

Wow everyone knows that the only reason girls love it is because of the vampire sex in it. Don't give us this "It's so romantic" crap, It's every girls dream to get banged by a vampire. Don't deny it.
