There used to be a time when most fantasy books were not about vampires and werewolves. Let's see, now - that was ... 2008. If I may be so bold as to recommend some great fantasy that does not feature the all-powerful and all-beautiful undead, try:



- Sabriel (the series): Features one of the strongest female characters in modern fiction

- Ella Enchanted

- Neverwhere

- The Graveyard Book

- The Lovely Bones

- The Princess Bride

- The Stand

Hey :) Heres a few that I LOVE! :)



The Time Travelers Wife is AMAZING. Really! I so reccomend it. You may have seen the film (it was rubbish!) but the books are sooooo much better.



My Sisters Keeper is great too. Its very sad, but id definatly recomend it.



The Noughts and Crosses series are one of my faves. They are very romantic, and the storyline is really imaginative. You should look them up :)



For something a bit darker, you should try The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Dont read it if you dont like anything a bit gory. Im not usually too keen on the whole apocalypse genre, but this book really moved me.



Most people think the Harry Potter books are for kids, but I love them!! They can sometimes drag a bit, but they are good.



The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is amazing too. Very very sad, but you will always remember it, thats how good the book is!



The Maximum Ride books are great too. They are about teens who have wings... Ok I make them sound rubbish but dont take my word for it, look them up :)



The Georgia Nicolson series are so funny! Great for a good laugh.

Arrows of the Queen,Ann Mcgaffrey Dragons of Pern, Eyes of a dragon Steven King.Terry Goodkind, Wizards First Rule.These are books that are as wonderfull as Vampire stories.
