in English we are reading 1984. for extra credit, we need to find a direct reference to George Orwell 1984, or the orwellian society. I have been to the library so many times and have taken out many magazines and i havent been too lucky. I tried Time, u.s. newsweek, the economist. What magazine do you think i would be most successful in finding something like this? if you come accross anything please mention so. Thanks!

Big Brother is the most lasting and ubiquitous reference. Is it enough to find a reference to the television show? If that's ok, then you need to hit up some low-brow entertainment magazines, like People or USWeekly.

If you must do it the hard way, and find a reference that hasn't been bastardized beyond belief, then look for the most doomsday-type article you can find.

OR search "Orwellian" or "Big Brother" in Google, an click on the "News" tab. This will limit your search to periodicals...Looks like the NY Times ran an Opinion article on Feb. 10th that uses the word "Orwellian" to describe Egyptian society under Mubarak.

Animal Farm. I somewhat have study that e book such countless situations it is not even humorous! it is so depressing although. I consistently sense so sorry for Boxer (the pony, who represents the working classification).
