The books have all been released for over a year now, ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. JK Rowling is adding several add-ons to do with the series (but not adding on to Harry's story), such as an encyclopedia of the Potter world and a book called The Tales of Beetle the Bard (releasing this December).

The movies of the books are still continuing. The next to be released is the sixth one, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It is coming out in July of 2009. The last book movie will in fact be split into two films due to the lengthy content of Deathly Hallows. So, there are going to be three more movies though there are only two more books to make movies of.

harry potter books were finished last year. There's three more movies coming out: harry potter and the half blood prince, and harry potter and the deathly hallows in two parts, so they can get all the stuff from the book into the movies.

The series is done for the books, yet in the last book, Hermoine recieves a book from Dumbledore (with short stories- kinda like our Cinderella, Snow White etc.), and it is coming out on December, 6, 2008- this year!

The sixth movie was supposed to come out November, 21, 2008, but Warner Bros. moved it to July 17, 2009, hoping they would make more money in the summer (a great disappointment...). Twilight is coming out in its place now.

The seventh book will be split into two movies, which is a good thing. It wil come out after the sixth (obviously).

Hope my answer helps and have a great day!!

The last book came out in June last year, but we've still got three movies to go. Half Blood Prince is next, and it WOULD have been out this November, but idiots that Warner Bros are, we've got to wait until next July =[

After that there's Deathly Hallows Part I and Part II, which will be out around 2010/2011 if everything goes to plan. And JK Rowling is still bringing out little extras, like the 800-word prequel and the Tales of Beedle the Bard, as well as maybe an encyclopedia for charity. So we're not going to be rid of everyone's favourite boy wizard for quite a while to come! =]

The Harry Potter books have been stopped. Obviously J.K. Rowling has come to the conclusion that an eighth book on the wizard will become a flop. The sixth movie has almost come out, but it will only arrive late next year.

Books are over with. Though I know the author is putting together a Potter Encyclopedia. The movies have been pushed back release wise, but they are still being made.
