I'm writing a scene where my main character's girlfriend is being attacked, and her only weapon is a baseball bat. Seeing as how my character is driven by rage and fear, can the attacker be killed with a single hit to the back of the head with the baseball bat? If so, what are the chances of him bleeding?

If hit hard enough, yes. But it would have to be pretty hard. My own grandmother died from a head injury due to a fall, and Natasha Richardson died hours after falling due to a slow internal bleed I believe. It might not be instant, it doesn't have to be bloody, but it can happen.

It's the famous blunt-force trauma effect and very possible. The amount of bleeding would depend upon a few things. If she lacerates the scalp with the blow (it's likely she would), he'd bleed a lot. Scalp wounds are notoriously bloody. Probably there would be blood in the nose and mouth as well.

Yes, a person can be killed that way.

A well placed hit can crack the skull, or even fracture it causing intercranial bleeding.

He will most likely bleed if hit in the head.

Sure, you can kill someone like that, and there may be no or little blood. Not perfectly reliable, but it could happen with a lucky hit and enough force.

use Amazon.com to search for a couple books written for writers and details all ways to inflict damage to a person including poisons. I forget the titles, but these books exist and are very complete.... not medical books but written for writers.
