Are there any good shocking books about Victorian Asylums?

Every time I try to google a book "The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls" by Emilie Autumn comes up.
Does anyone know any good, shocking, scary asylum books?

The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls is actually a good book. It's a real-life experience by the song writer Emilie Autumn, who spent a time in a high-security asylum. Except she stages it in a Victorian setting. I don't actually know whether other "asylum" books are good, but you should check this one out if you haven't already.

Are you looking for fact or fiction? what kind of asylums? Because back then there were many different types of asylums for various ailments.



Nellie Bly was an investigative reporter in the U.S. in the late Victorian times, more turn of the century. She posed as a mental patient and had herself admitted to an insane asylum and after she was released, she wrote an expose about her experience for her newspaper. Her account was later published into a book called "Ten Days in a Mad-House"

The Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris is truly one of the GREATEST book series I have EVER read (and I read a lot!). Each book is fast paced, clever, full of action, and more action, mysteries galore, love, romance, some sexy scenes (hee hee), and wit, humor, and sass! I got through this series very quickly because I truly could not put the books down. I would try and try to stop so that I could "save some reading for later", but I was just so addicted to the series and was always left wanting more by the numerous cliff hangers that I could NOT stop!
