peter jackson probably saw aragorn killing the mouth of sauron easily "cool" but that was a really bad scene he could have made them have a big battle with the mouth of sauron. Or the mouth of sauron could have been the leader of the last orc team at the black gate and killed aragorns men just like how sauron did back in the war of the last alliance. But no instead the mouth of sauron was killed like an ant, RUBBISH!

PJ's depiction of the Mouth of Sauron was...interesting, although in the book states that he was a 'tall and evil' figure wearing a high black helm and a cloak, but his face is not described as anything like the film. I am writing a fanfic, (part of a series,) where he survives the War of the Ring, and I do not use his film appearance; he looks like a man.
It was more dramatic to have him die, I suppose, and to make him look like some sort of mutant. If you are depicting *evil* characters and do not have the time to portray them in depth through acting, then the easy way out it to make them look horrific. The whole Flaming Eyeball of Sauron annoyed me too, since Sauron did have a physical form at that time (Gollum mentioned his only having four fingers on the black hand.) Using a huge eyeball atop Barad-dûr like a searchlight...oh dear; it was laughable and rather clumsy. The Great Eye is mentioned in the book, but PJ took it a bit far. A physical Sauron, if portrayed with skill, would have been far more effective.

The Return of the King came out in 2003, by the way.
I liked the fact that he was included in the films. For some reason I love this character both in the books and films. I'm not sure why, he's arrogant and is the bearer of horrible news. But there's something about that character I find interesting.
We are not told about his death in the books but after the destruction of the Ring he probably did or at least ran away and hid.
But no, Aragorn did not decapitate him as in the movie, it wouldn't have been a good thing to do, no matter how arrogant he was it was not appropriate to behead him there.
That being said I love it in the movie when he gets his head lopped off, it makes you feel satisfied some how, seeing this annoying thing get what he (probably) deserves.
Anywho that's my thoughts on the subject, in brief.
Best wishes!

You're surprised that something in the movie didn't match up with something in the book? What about the half-a$$ed battle between Eowyn and the WitchKing? How about the increased importance of Arwen in the entire series? Let's not forget the changing of the entire ending (when the hobbits return to the Shire).
The mouth of Sauron was, in my opinion, pretty darn good. Technically, since Sauron is destroyed at the end of LOTR, the mouth of Sauron DOES die..just not in the way they chose in the movie. Meh. That's Hollywood for you.
