I want to do a story where a slob or slacker and his weird wife make a businesses out of sealing dope, cocaine, and marijuana. The story will follow their lives as they bicker and fight over the dumbest things ever. The story also will follow strange characters who walks in and out of their lives causing very commotion. To death, to betrayel, to honor, and to the life with drugs. The story is set in the era of the 70s or something like that. I already got all the characters made. It want be those movie like Judd apatow makes, it is a very serious story bug with elements that will make you laugh. So does this story have potential.

If your going to make it set in the past, know your history on the drug trade. Cocaine didn['t really become popular till the 80's for example. This sounds like a Satire, which I love. Go ahead and do it.

You have to go with your gut. I hate to sound like a broken record, but in regards to personal things like this and creativity, don't rely on other people's opinions off of the Internet. If you believe the story has potential, write it, and see where it goes. All stories start with an idea, and if an idea gets you writing and keeps you intrigued, then most likely, after you finish, people who read it will be intrigued, too, depending on your writing style and ability. If you feel it in your gut, go with it. If it's not there and it's just an idea floating around, stick around for another one that really comes close to you. You'll know when you find the right one, you can feel it. If you can feel it for this one, then don't hesitate and write, write, write. You'll be surprised how far a thought can take you.

It can work if you research the 70's because tv has never done the era justice, and don't write it in first person since you are following a group of people

Depends on the audience you're trying to reach. Anytime you write there must be a specific audience! The genre is also important. This story wouldn't make a good romance, would it?

It certainly has potential, you might want to make sure that it is completely dissimilar to "breaking bad" because that was literally the first thing that popped into my head when you said it.
