Okay, so I'm writing a book series and I need a really beautiful name for a 17 year old princess/goddess. I was thinking off Odette, but the name was already used in the movie The Swan Princess. I also need a name for a 17 year old prince and a somewhat mean and spiteful prince who is also 17 years old. They don't really appear until book 5 or 6, but i need to weave the story into the first 4. I don't want names that are already princess and prince names and no boring names like "Ted" or "Alice".

My specialty is kind of weird names, so you're in luck! :)

I picked the ones that sounded fairy-tale-ish.

Remember to pick names that are vastly different from each other spelling, and sound-wise, to avoid confusion. Bessie and Betsy are too alike, for example.

Also remember that you liking the name isnt good enough of a reason to use it. You aren't the ones who named little Betsy, her parents did. Every decision you make is actually someone else's, at least story wise. Names should reflect family values, tradition, and time/place (even if its an imaginary one. ALL fiction follows logic.)

Okay, sorry if you already knew all that... just a reminder, then, I guess :)

Now, to answer your question, here are my ideas:

This is where a little bit of research and attention to your story line will come in handy. I cannot suggest any names for you for the simple fact that I don't know who or where these characters are or will be.

Is there an ethnic factor to your story, and if there is, shouldn't they be given names that will fit comfortably into your story?

I understand that you are looking for a 'pretty' or 'exotic' yet respectable name for your princess, and an almost ominous-sounding name for your prince. Using the names as foreshadowing....nice touch.

Research names that fit for the ethnicity and the time period in which your story takes place.

Wish I could be of more assistance, but since it's not my story and I don't have the details, it's completely up to you......they are your children.....name them well.

What about something like Xavier for the Prince?

Maliyah for the princess?

Good look with your writing!
