Question:
Wizards of Waverly Place is a complete copy of Harry Potter!?
2010-05-19 18:38:07 UTC
This is why:
- Wizworld Industries is kind of like the Ministry of Magic..
-Their headmaster looks just like Dumbledore, and the headmasters name is Proffessor Crums, which is like Victor Krum..
-WizTech looks just like Hogwarts.
-RONALD LONGcape, is like RON Weasley and Neville LONGbottom...
-Ronald Longcape is like Draco as he is evil, and so is his father.
-Justin is similar to Hermione, Alex can sometimes turn out to be like Harry, and Max is somewhat like Ron.
-Their dad is a wizard, and their mom is a muggle slash non-wizard, and Harrys mom was muggle-born and his dad wasnt.
-Dean breaks up with Alex because he thinks that she is going out with Ronald, and in Harry Potter, Cho Chang essentially breaks up with Harry because she thinks he is going out with Hermione.
-The uniforms look the same as in Harry Potter.... (they look like Hufflepuff uniforms...)
-They wear Harry Potter glasses.
-In their sport, when you catch the one ball you automatically win.

This kind of bugs me...... but there is not much we can do about it.......

If you see any other similarities, feel free to add them :)

- the fact about how there's also a character named Dean, that you mentioned

- the whole magic crap (HP was great, Wizards of Waverly Place is NOT)

- they are learning how to do magic

- they can't tell most normal people (muggles in HP) that they are wizards.

- are the females called witches in Waverly??

- they have other relatives who are cooler than their parents (like Sirius)

- magic wands?? kinda obvious but still...not original

- there's other magical creatures besides wizards (you know, one episode had vampires i think, which aren't in HP, but ghosts and goblins are)

-

now that you say that, they are very similar.

Hey, now, watch what you say about Wizards of Waverly Place. I watch that show with Crabbe and Goyle all the time. Disney isn't copying us, they're clearly just trying to become more wizard-friendly. I think it's pretty discriminatory that there's only one show on television for wizards to relate to, don't you? Although I still don't know what Justin sees in Juliet. If I saw a vampire I'd A-K her, not date her. At least she doesn't sparkle.

But if you want another similarity, they have a spell similar to Accio and I'm pretty sure the whole vampires vs. wizards idea was inspired by the endless debate between us wizards and those stupid meyerpires (even though there is no debate, we're so much better). The actor who plays Max's mom is named Jinny, too. That last one isn't a copy, obviously, but just sort of an interesting coincidence.

You know, it isn't a complete copy because if it was, it would be good. i do agree with the similarities. It's too much of a coincidence that when Harry Potter is really popular, a tv show comes out that is just like it. i think they did this because if harry potter was popular, they thought their show would be too. i know it's stupid. Harry Potter will always be better and it's kinda pointless to copy it.

I've caught a few episodes of this show, and know what you're talking about. I see how this might feel like it is copying 'Harry Potter' but what its actually doing it parodying it. Many of these things are a deliberate send-up of 'Harry Potter'. The writers of the show I'm sure are aware that their stories follow similar themes to the book and instead of choosing to whistle and pretend it isn't there, they choose to spoof it.

Hogwarts dosen't exactly look like wiz-tec but kinda-ish

but all in all i do agree and i think they're a cheap rip off!.....i mean the harry potter glasses? come on!
