I'm not really big into fantasy, but I love adventure and mystery. I dont like straight up love stories but if theres a little romance mixed in with the action then I dont mind.
Basically I'm looking for (good) books that are based around the ocean or lighthouses or the beach, ect.
I appriciate your help! Thanks =]

Percy Jackson and The Olympians. The 5 books are: a million The Lightning Thief .2 the sea of Monsters 3 The Titan's Curse 4 The conflict of the Labyrinth 5 The final Olympian The characters initiate on the age of twelve, specific there's a romance storyline in it, with percy and jackson besides the fact that it incredibly is not over-accomplished with the aid of fact they're merely childrens, they actually hate one yet another in the beginning up. The storyline is somewhat enticing and the twists are depraved!

The Captain Horatio Hornblower series by C S Forester is about an officer in the British Navy during the Napoleonic wars and is very good if you like nautical adventure stories.

Raphael Sabatini wrote several adventure stories with a nautical setting 'Captain Blood' and 'The Sea Hawk' are the most famous.

A few of Agatha Christie's mystery stories are set by the sea, 'Evil Under the Sun' has a seaside setting, as does 'Towards Zero' and 'A Caribbean Mystery'. Most of the first half of 'The Man in the Brown Suit' is set on a ship travelling to South Africa.

One of Maddy Hunter's amusing 'Passport to Peril' series of murder mysteries is called 'Hula done it?' and is set on a cruise around the Hawaian islands, it's very entertaining.

You should really like "Around the World in 80 Days" by Verne. Free online.

Another of his, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" is definitely an ocean adventure (a really great one), but no romance.

For High seas adventures, try Dewey Lambdin or Alexander Kent.

For one with more romance, try Johanna Lindsey's Gentle Rogue

Treasure Island, by Robert Louis Stevenson, is really good. It's a adventure classic about pirates and buried treasure (a lot of the classic stereotypes about pirates come from this novel). It's not all high-seas-ish but there's a good bit of sailing around.

One that I really like is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, by C.S. Lewis. It's probably too childish- it's in the Chronicles of Narnia- but I still love it. It's about a quest for seven lost lords of Narnia, who supposedly are scattered about lone islands in the sea. It's really high-seas-ish, and really exciting.

Hope that helps!

The late Patrick O'Brian wrote many great adventure stories set on the high seas and littered with naval engagements.
