For my honors English class, we have to write a few papers over the summer and email them in.

I have to write a paper on comparing "The Natural" and "The Legend of King Arthur." Problem is, last year the teacher I had didn't teach King Arthur so I haven't read it. I read the summary of it on Spark Notes to help me out but it's still tough finding 2-3 similarities between the two without actually having read it and I don't have time to read it.

So what are some similarities (2+) between the two?

1.They share the motif of temptation. Lancelot is tempted by Guinevere and this leads to the fall of Camelot. Roy is tempted by Harriet and then shot ruining his career. You could also use this to support the idea that both books utilize the "Temptress" archetype.

2.The scene where Wonderboy splits in half is in effect very similar to Arthur's loss of Excalibur's sheath, and then the sword itself.

I'd also add that The Natural is much more pessimistic than the Arthur legend. There is much less hope at the end of The Natural

Um...The Natural as in the baseball book? Your teacher wants you to compare a book about baseball and a book about a king?

Well, they're both strong I guess. And good at what they do. They're both wise.

Sorry, that's all I can think of. =/

That's whack! Lol but I remember a project like this, back in seventh grade, we had to compae "dancing through fire", a book about ballet, and "The Outsiders", a book about gangs. i was like 0_0 okay.

You might also want to check out the movie if you think the book is stupid, cuz the movies 10 times better. ^_^
