Book 7 - Headmaster Portraits (Spoiler Alert)?

Does Severus Snape now have a portrait hanging in Dumbledore's old office? It does not appear to be mentioned.

He is a past headmaster of Hogwart's - even if he was semi-imposed on the school (and in the end, he was "good" - or at least "good enough").

Here is what JK Rowling had to say about that in her interview:

Laura Trego: Was the absence of snapes portrait in the headmasters office in the last scene innocent or deliberate?

J.K. Rowling: It was deliberate. Snape had effectively abandoned his post before dying, so he had not merited inclusion in these august circles.

J.K. Rowling: However, I like to think that Harry would be instrumental in ensuring that Snape's portrait would appear there in due course.

Yes, I think all of the headmasters including snape has one. Remember? Harry said that Snape was not bad when he was dueling Voldemort. Everybody heard it, so they know it and would have put one up. IF he was able to have a picture.

in the online chat j.k. rowling said harry would probably see to that- snape got a portrait in the headmasters' office. see mugglenet.com for the entire chat.

i don't think a portrait automatically appeared there, cause remember that he quit right before the battle began, pulling a voldemort and flying away? so technically he wasn't headmaster when he died. but i believe that harry ensured that a portrait was made for him anyway, to honor his bravery.

This is probably slip up, because it was not mentioned when harry goes back to the room where the headmasters sit and see's him cry.

Yeah! He does. it is mentioned but snape wasn't in his portrait at the time. he was probably in the other portraitis of the castle.

I don't think he has one coz it wasn't mentioned. Dumbledore's portrait was there right away after he died in book 6. :-)

i didn't read that and i was wondering the same thing. because wasn't umbridge the head mistress for a little bit so why didnt she have a portrait?? i mean, it could be that she didn't actually occupy the office because it sealed itself against her but still.

interesting question

I don't think he does because I remember when Dumbledore died it automatically appeared. It would've come and it would have been mentioned in the book.

i think he might have one. but then again, if he did, jk rowling prolly would have mentioned it in the book when harry was talking to dumbledore.

If he didn't, he should have. Even Nigellus Black got one.

I would assume he has one.
