For my English project, i need to compare two books, one book i have chosen is called " Along for the ride" By Sarah Dessen. I want another story similar to it, about a girl who is the smart one, who never really had a social life until later, and also has a family problem, say divorce, or family member's death. Any suggestions? Also the book has to be an adult read. Thanks:D

Honestly, alot of Sarah Dessen's books are the same.

1 girl is out of home town

2 girl has somewhat broken family

3 girl meets cute guy

4 cute guy and girl try to do a project or long term activity together

5 girl and guy have fight

6 girl and guy make up

7 the end!

So if you want to find similarities any of her books will do, such as lock and key, what happened to good bye, or keeping the moon.

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen is about 18 year old Auden, a remarkably smart girl who's parents divorced when she was younger after years of bickering. She became an insomniac, avoiding her problems by staying awake, studying at a nearby cafe. Meanwhile, being raised by two academic parents, Auden organized her life around school - she could answer any educational question, yet barely had any friends and missed out on every important childhood landmark (prom, bowling, learning to ride a bike..) After a strangely inspirational message from her older brother Hollis, Auden decides to spend the summer before her freshman year of college in Colby with her father, his new extremely cheerful wife, and their even newer baby, Thisbe.
