I have so far...
The Great Gatsby
The entire Jane Austen collection...besides pride and prejudice-already read it....
Why People Believe Weird Things
Witness
Whispers
Re-read Lord of the Rings books
Inkspell
Left Behind-Tribulation force

I read fast, and often. The number of pages does not affect me. I have no particular taste in books, I love em all.

What are some of your favorite books, and which ones would you recommend me to read?

I am a huge book lover and I can totally help you out. I also worked at Borders for years and thats were my paycheck went!

Have you read The Other Boleyn Girl yet? If not, you should. Then you can read The Queen's Fool and The Virgin's Lover all by Philippa Gregory. These books are amazing.

Let's see...

The Lovely Bones- Alice Sebold

The Secret Life of Bees- Sue Monk Kidd

The Mermaid Chair- Sue Monk Kidd

And for the lighter side...

Me and Mr. Darcy- Alexandra Potter

Save Kayrn- Karyn Bosnak (non-fiction, really funny)

Twenty Times A Lady- Karyn Bosnak (fiction, still funny)

The Boy Next Door- Meg Cabot

Boy Meets Girl- Meg Cabot

Stupid and Contagious- Caprice Crane

Just to name a few

Some of the books I've read so far this summer, maybe not exactly the books you love, but still good nonetheless: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks The Fault in Our Stars- A love story, without the "gooey romance." I even cried reading this book, which NEVER happens The Night Circus The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Series A Song of Fire and Ice Series

Terry Pratchett's Discworld series

Mary Stewart's Arthurian cycle (The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills, The Last Enchantment, The Wicked Day)

J. Robert King's Arthurian trilogy (Mad Merlin, Lancelot du Lethe, Le Morte D'Avalon)

Stephen King's Dark Tower series and Eyes of the Dragon

Hey! My name's Julia too! How weird! Anyway, the series I would recommend to you is the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It's a wonderful romance series that is a mix of warriors, mythology, vampires, were-animals, Atlantis, and so much more.

Basically, the jyst of it is that these men have been hurt or betrayed in such a way that it resulted in their death. Right before they die their souls cry out for vengeance and the goddess Artemis grants their wish. However, the catch is, they only get one night to exact their revenge and then they must spend the rest of eternity guarding humanity from the evil soul-eating creatures called Daimons. And thus a Dark Hunter is born.

I would recommend this series to any and everyone (even men, despite the fact that it's so heart-stoppingly romantic). It starts with a book called Fantasy Lover then goes from their to Dream Chaser. An awesome series. And a must try for anyone!!

Once Upon a Marigold by Jean Ferris!!!

Make sure to read the philip pullman trilogy (if you saw the movie the golden compass, try not to judge the books by the movie, they're incredible).

Read the book of Proverbs-it's amazingly practical-or,if that's not enough, try reading the whole Bible in a row.I'm on 1kings.I prefer King James version. It's the one w/ most accuracy.

By the way I like Pride and Prejudice too.

If you like the Lord of the Rings, you might try the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. The first one is The Sword of Shannara and there are at least 12 in total.

Here are a few books off the top of my head of different genres.

Jeffrey Archer - Prisoner of Birth (Law)

Sidney Sheldon - Master of the Game (Business and romance - over 4 generations of a family)

Dean Koontz - Phantoms (Horror - I couldn't sleep all night)

Sylvia Waugh - The Mennyms series (really unusual one - a family of kapok rag dolls comes alive)

Emily Bronte - Wuthering Heights

Robin Cook - Invasion (aliens take over - horribly realistic)

Robin Cook - Outbreak (medical thriller)

Stephen King - Cell (gruesome horror - you'll look at your phone in a different light)

Sidney Sheldon - If tomorrow comes (His best. Con games galore)

P.G. Wodehouse - Any Blandings story (Humour)

Meg Cabot - Nicola and the Viscount,

Victoria and the Rogue ( historical, humorous

romance)

Hope you like em!

Here's 3 off the top of my head:

-Silent Spring by Rachel Carson-- sparked the environmentalist movement.

-Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk-- super fast read but pretty damn awesome.

-Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka-- man wakes up to find that he's been turned into an insect-- awesome surrealism and philosophy.

Song of Solomon, the Kite Runner, and East of Eden.

All really entertaining page turners, and all of them actually have a lot of literary value.

These really helped revive my faith in reading for pleasure. Definitely at least check them out.

Terry Goodkind - Wizard's First Rule.

In the Fantasy section, but you'll possibly like it even if you aren't a fan of these usually.

It is a bit graphic in its descriptions, though, and a bit violent . If this isn't your cup of tea, disregard.

I am one not to read books. I have taken out a few tape cassettes or cds books on tape before.

Its great to lay back & close your eyes to imagine what is happening. Plus if the phone rings you can stop the tape where you left off.
