which one?
also, sherlock holmes is not asexual per say....he is more of a demisexual, one who will have sex rarely but ONLY with someone they love. not to be confused with a grey-asexual who will also have sex rarely..but do not need the love. demi's/grey's fall under the ace umbrella due to the fact that they can go years without sex & wont regret it if they dont have sex at all.

sherlock is most likely a biromantic (there are romantic as well as sexual orientations) due to his interest in irene adler & john watson ...for different reasons..but affectionate to both.
whoever said sherlock is not into irene in the books is an idiot. in ACD's books sherlock demanded to keep a picture of her. in the follow up books by baring gauold (mmkay..murdered that spelling) sherlock has ONE son..but the mother is never named. in ACD's books...irene has ONE son..but the father is never named.
it isnt hard to put two & two together...she obviously divorced the man she married.
the son's name is nero wolfe holmes.
also the ACD books have some rather erotic dialog/random scenes with sherlock/john...the ACD estate supports both pairings (sherlock/irene & sherlock/john). martin & robert are both into the sherlock/john pairing while benedict & jude are like eh whatever & are dragged along by their co-actors lol
furthermore sherlock & mycroft have an elder brother named sherrinford & a younger sister named enola violet (enola seen in other sherlockian books by nancy springer)
that said...while robert downey is my first & foremost sherlock & i love benedict's sherlock & can't wait to see him in star trek & also ron howard's sherlock from the 50's (short B&W things..all on youtube) is awesome...........
.....
my heart belongs to zachary quinto since the moment i fist saw sylar in heroes...& now he's in star trek as the young spock. "squeeee" next to benedict... "faint"
