Good book/series of books for a 13 year old boy?

I am 13 years old and am looking for a good series of books or good book. My favourite ever books are the Skulduggery Pleasant series but they only come out once a year. It's sort of like a mystery and action sort of book that has a skeleton for it's main character and 13 year old girl as his... errr... "sidekick" or whatever. Any suggestions?

A lot of these I reckon you'll like. A couple are aimed for older teenagers - Melvin Burgess and Kevin Brooks in particular - but that's just because of more mature content and stuff. You should be able to handle them easily.

And don't be put off if some of them look 'girly'. Just because lots of girls read them doesn't mean they aren't good books, although this isn't the case with Twilight. Don't bother. Reading Twilight is like having a hangover - good while it lasts, but you'll regret it afterwards. Plus all your mates will make fun of you.

Enjoy.

The Pendragon Adventure by D. J. MacHale

Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

I love both of these series. Pendragon is ten books long starting with The Merchant of Death. Harry Potter is seven books long starting with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (well, it is in America. It could be Philosopher's Stone depending on where you live).

I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells

This book is only available in the UK right now, but you can order it online from wherever you live. It's a horror book, and a little more mature than the two fantasy books I suggested above. The narrator character is hilarious too, so when the scary parts ease up, you get something to laugh at.

By These Ten Bones by Clare B Dunkle, i loved this book! It is about a girl in Scotland but it isn't a girly book, it has a lot of Scotch superstitions and myth and the ending tore me apart, i actually screamed.

The Sky Inside by Clare B Dunkle, this book is about a boy in the future who goes on an adventure to save his little sister from unknown doom, this book is absolutely insane and very enjoyable.

The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, okay tihis book isn't a romance it's a mystery so don't think its for girls, it is AMAZING! There is suspense, action, and lots of fun.

The Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series by Rick Riordan, this series surrounds a boy who finds out he is the son of a greek god and goes on many adventures, funny and great.

Interworld by Neil Gaiman, this is a weird book, very weird, it is about a boy who finds out he can travel the dimensions.

the Chronicles of Vladimir Tod by heather Brewer, i laughed so hard at this book! this teenage vampire deals with a lot of problems and has to learn about his powers.

i hope you like some of these I love Skulduggery Pleasant they are some of the best books ever.

Hey there,

Here I got Broken Sword Return of the Templars for free: http://bit.ly/1uaZWel

it's a perfectly working link, no scam !

Despite being an unofficial version, Broken Sword: The Return of the Templars got enough notoriety among the fans of the series, to the extent that their legal creators gave their full support.

It's a really nice game.

Have you tried reading the His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman? (Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass). They're fantasy, but extremely well written. I read them when I was about your age.

My sister used to love Malorie Blackman whose books, I believe, are suitable for both boys and girls. (They came out a bit after my time). Noughts And Crosses is her most famous series - it's essentially about racism but apparently not at all preachy or hard to understand.

You could also try reading some books by Terry Pratchett. His books are suitable for pretty much any age, but I started reading them in my early teens. I've found that they're more popular with boys than girls, as well. I still love them now!

I like the Dragon Rider's of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey. It was taken over by her son Todd. There's over a dozen books in it by now.

Left Behind series- the children's series was better written than the adult series IMO.
