Question:
Who would win in Muggle vs Wizard war?
2012-08-06 00:55:12 UTC
I think that Muggles would most definitely win. There are hundreds of reasons why but I think the main ones are these:

1. Muggles have numbers on their side, they outnumber wizards by an incredible amount.
2. Experience: Muggles have had far more experience in fighting wars than wizards, muggles rely on technology to live and fight better while Wizards just rely on magic for everything. Muggles can improvise where Wizards cannot.
3. Attitude: Wizards (esp. Purebloods) THink that muggles are worthless scum, so they ignore everything muggles can do, e.g they might have the ability to turn a tank into a banana, but they wouldn't know what a tank was until they got hit by a shell.
4. Limits of Magical ability: Lets say there are 10,000 wizards in Britain (High estimate judging from the books), how many of those have the ability to turn a gun into a teacup? Only the experienced teachers and old students so they makeup around maybe a 2000, the rest consist of regular adults that can't do anything against high tech muggle weapons and the kids......most can't even stun people let alone disarm a muggle with a gun.

So that leaves a few hundred wizard 'warriors' that are actually able to fight off a muggle army, they would get taken down slowly one by one while the population of the UK is around 60 million.

Muggles win hands down, even if it would take a while, any constructive criticism is welcome.

Well, I actually agree, though it would depend on the wizards fighting...but is this an all out war, or a war limited to a single country?

If the wizards decided to turn to dark arts to win, they could create an army of inferi...hence the kind of wizards fighting determines the outcome...

That's not to mention the kinds of magical creatures that wizards could get on their side, Dragons, Giants, Acromantula, etc. The kinds of animals that Muggles don't know exist...

There are a lot of variables in this...interesting question.

someone said that most of the wizard stay out of the war. if that two there might be far more then you thinking we know there are at least a 100,000 maybe 5 to 30 million in the world. second we don't know how many spell there are. all we saw was kids fighting. and what there shild could do to muggle bullets. might be strong enough to stop them. but slow down object so bullets could be out. they would not have to fight the army but could destroy a city in a min. 100 wizard blink in to new York. firedragon. cant be put out by water. city destroy. they blink to a muggle house with a tent that mugge cant see that hold a 100 wizards. inchant ball to fly and kill muggel a few million of them would killed billions. there a lot of way that wizard can win. kill so many muggle that they beg to stop the war.

I personally believe that muggles would win, superior technology, numbers, and use of logic could lead to a fairly easy win. The only problem would be how long the war would have to go. Wizards would be spread out and easily hidden making it hard to find them. There is also the problem of muggle born wizards and squibs. What side would they fight for? Could be a deciding factor depending on where they are.

I would say wizards, for three main reasons:

1) Wizards are trained to fight. Defense Against the Dark Arts is a mandatory class, and while we never really hear what they learn beyond the stuff that's instrumental to the plot, these teachers are filling an entire school year, and at least some of them are decent teachers.

2) There are so many applications for magic in combat, and not just spells that are obviously meant for it. For example, we have switching spells: what if you switched a vital organ with the patch of air next to a person. Or something even more basic, the first spell we ever saw: Wingardium Leviosa. Two first years knock a troll unconscious with that spell. Imagine what you could do with a little creativity. Magic is actually really scary, in that respect. Creativity in the wrong hands would be terrifying.

3) Finally, wizards are good at hiding and moving quickly. People discuss nukes, but there is a huge problem with this; there is nowhere to nuke. Where are they going to send the bomb, Diagon Alley or the Ministry, in the middle of London? (Also, the Ministry is underground, like some kind of bunker.) Or Hogwarts, where even the students don't know where it exists, apart from somewhere in Scotland? (Hermione mentions this in Goblet of Fire). And they will always have the element of surprise, because of Apparition and the fact that wizards can turn themselves almost invisible (Disillusionment). There would really be no way to get rid of wizards

Wizards, and I'll tell you why:

1. Shields, wards, and force fields of all types can block the bullets and missiles. They also know spells to clear the air of impurities, so biological warfare is also out. There are also tons of spells that can affect entire groups, and Imperius could be used on Generals/Tank drivers to make them turn against their own men, and we wouldn't be able to stop it.

2. Yes, Wizards ARE outnumbered, but they have far better survival chances than us Mugs. They know tons of attack/stun spells, and if they played their cards right they could whop us pretty good.

3. There may only be about 10,000 Wizards in Britain, but that doesn't say anything about the rest of the World. After all, they have Dragons in Romania, why not more Wizards? Probably not as many as Muggles, but still a good amount.

4. Muggles tend to keep their kids out of war, but when Voldemort rose to power, almost EVERY kid in Hogwarts was encouraged to fight, and WANTED to. Muggle kids would be scared senseless of fighting, but the Wizard kids? They're trained to fight from childhood, they're used to it.

I 90% agree with you, the missing ten lies in three highly powerful wizards and their existence.

1. Voldemort. He had enough influence to get giants on his side, if giants are present the chances of winning would be unlikely, have you ever seen the hulk... And the hulk is as stupid as the giants.

2. Dumbledore, I mean come on, the man also doubles as gandolf the gray.

3. Grindlewald. Little is known about him sceptic that when paired with the elder wand, the only wizard to defeat him is the aforementioned.

So, to conclude your answer, with these three forces on the wizards side, we may just see a one sided fight ending in the triumph of wizardry.

Without these three then, MUGGLES= #1

Muggles. We can use drones against Death eaters so many spells can be useless (especially unforgivable curses) and set to explode when affected with others or damaged enough.

And strategy against Voldemorts revival spell put a MOAB in Little Hangleton graveyard (and others that contain usable bone of the father). Then kill Voldemort wait for Death eathers to gather for revival spell and make MOAB go boom - an that would be plan B.

Plan A would be Caputre Voldemort. Render him using surgery and medication incapable but alive and keep him locked for long time (and for sure put a MOAB in Little Hangleton graveyard (and others that contain usable bone of the father))

Wizards.

1-Maybe they are outnumbered, but they have many magical creatures by their side, such as dementors, giants, werewolves, vampires, etc.

2-If Dumbledore and Voldemort are alive, wizards would definitely win.

3-During Wizard War 2,it was mostly students who fought against the death eaters.

Maybe muggles from your point of view. But if voldemort is alive, he can use dark magic with his followers and escape any time by flying.
