My favourite writer is Kenneth Oppel.

Mainly because I rely love his SilverWing books since I really love bats and his style of writing is very gripping and makes me want to read forever!!

Also he makes up very interesting characters with pretty cool names like Shade, Zephyr and Marina.

He also uses real-life things like famous towers in his story and write about them as if they are somewhat special.

Hope This Helps!

Neil Gaiman.

Neil has written in just about every conceivable format, in a number of genres. His work always has depth, and he has won numerous awards. His "Sandman" series of graphic novels redefined that format.

He's written a number of excellent fantasy novels, including ones that have been turned into plays and movies, including "Coraline", "The Anansi Boys", and "American Gods".

And he's just plain sweet.

Scott Sigler

I like the mix of SciFi, Horror, and gallows humor

the entertain personas he sometimes uses are entertaining

and the free audio versions of the books were a big influence too http://podiobooks.com/contributor/scott-sigler/

Richelle Mead

I love the way she writes and how she portrays her characters

All her stories are addicting. They are filled with wonderful characters and they have good storylines. Most of her characters are witty and kick-*** females - which I am a sucker for. I've read all of her books.

Stephen King. I love the way he brings his characters to life by going into so much detail about what motivates them and how they feel. You almost feel you know them.
